Project Runway Recap: Something Old, Something New

Re-work that dress, Shirin!
credit: Lifetime
Watching divorcees hold up their old wedding dresses and announce how long they had been divorced, including some that were still in the process, was disheartening.
Thank goodness they were having something old transformed into something new.
The biggest and most garishly appliqué gowns went first, leaving poor Shirin with literally a sheath.
Still, I don’t know why she was freaking out. All she had to do was channel Chloe Dao, winner of season two, who in the “Clothes Off Your Back” challenge (TV DivaGal’s fave to date), turned the mini-dress and sweater off her own 4’11 sized body into an adorable romper for a 5’10-plus model – with pockets!
After a very detailed mentoring from Tim Gunn, Shirin smartly ignored her model’s dumb pleas for a Cher-inspired outfit and created a stylish empire mini-dress with unique stitching.
Sure, her divorcee hated it. But the judges have never praised a design and then eliminated a designer because she didn’t listen to her client.
Logan wasn’t so lucky. In trying to please his divorcee’s need for pants, he created a poorly tailored pant/vest combo that was ill-fitting and unflattering. I just can’t figure out how he got saved over Epperson, whose flared dress was tacky, but obviously better constructed.
Gordana finally took her own advice and whipped up the hottest strapless number ever – from her wedding dress’ lining, no less! – for her divorcee.
Everything about it: the color, the patterning and the fit, was flawless. She deserved to win, though I’m not sure how Carol Hannah‘s little strapless dress wasn’t the runner-up. Please PR, mass market that dress, in a size 2. I’ll be first in line!
At this point, Irina is pretty unstoppable. She dyed the lace of her gown and turned it into the overlay for a simple A-line dress, giving it class and character. She’s this season’s female Christian Siriano!
The TV DivaGal has already heard that it’s another all-girl lineup at Bryant Park. No doubt she’s one of them.
Catch the next episode of Project Runway Thursday, Oct. 15 at 10 p.m. at Lifetime.
Do you agree with the judge’s elimination? Let us know what you think!

I agree that pretty boy Logan should have gone this week. Must be the women judges who wanted him to stay because he is sooo “hot” as all the models have said. The dress that Epperson made was unique and those of us who would have worn it just don’t agree with those judges. I almost feel like turning off my DVR of the rest of the shows behind this one!
There is no way Logan should have stayed over Epperson. Those pants were awful. I didn’t like the pants idea anyway but at least they could have been constructed better. They made a mistake big time last night. They need to bring Epperson back.
