GAL APPROVED Weekend! 21 Jump Street Fun! Plus: Be the Next Face of Black Opal!
SEE. 21 Jump Street‘s re-boot is a surprisingly fun and enjoyable romp if you don’t mind suspending belief. Do we really believe that stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill look like they are in their teens, or even late teens? Hmm… We think not. But the original Jump Street had that same issue. Now do we really believe that Channing could walk on to school campus and not instantly become MVP? You know he would be welcomed to any campus with a serenade of panties from both genders! Hill and Tatum play two bumbling incompetent cops who are demoted to 21 Jump Street. They are given a drug case and warned not to get expelled … which of course, they proceed to do, along with serving alcohol to minors and hinting at an inappropriate flirtation with a barely legal schoolmate. We enjoyed the new high school that’s full of political correctness, a hierarchy based on “awareness” and “environmental sensitivity” where nerds are respected but still get no action. The relationship dynamics are fun, the pace is fast with jokes flying around ever corner via car chases, gunfights, adult children moving back home and the new social order. You will also enjoy cameos of the original cast. Definitely jump out to see this one!
EXCLUSIVE! Last night on the Project Runway All Stars, Austin Scarlett designed a wedding dress as part of his final challenge. Well, TV DivaGal knows why the exuberant designer made his matrimonial masterpiece the pièce de résistance of his mini-collection. “I want everyone in America to have an Austin Scarlett wedding dress,” he revealed exclusively to me at a Project Runway panel event earlier this year. Of course, the couture creation for a woman’s most special day is nothing new to the extravagant fashioneer. “I have designed them in the past, and I do have some wedding dresses now,” he shared. “I can’t really talk about it yet, but in the future, I would love to make my gowns generally available to women everywhere.” Austin, we can’t wait! Catch the second part of Project Runway All Stars on Thursday, March 22 at 9 p.m.
WIN! Think you give good face: beauty and brains? Then you’ll definitely want to enter the 2012 Black Opal True Beauty Model Search. This is no ordinary contest: along with great looks, you’ll need to be striving for educational excellence and giving back to the community. One grand prize winner will win a $10,000 educational scholarship and become the new face of the brand. Intrigued? Visit the Black Opal website through April 2. Best of luck!
