Maggie Smith and Judi Dench lead an all-star cast of British senior citizens who get less then they bargained for when they check into a what turns out to be the real “Hotel California.”  It’s the last resort, so to speak, for seniors. These lovable AARP members  can’t afford to retire in Britain, so they end up in an Indian luxury retirement community that fails to deliver the promise of “affordable luxurious residences and health care.”   What the movie does deliver is a funny heartwarming look at retirement through the eyes of an Indian hotel owner and a group of British seniors. There’s mystery, romance and yes, sex — with and without Viagra. It’s refreshing story telling with wonderfully compelling characters that you will love, hate and empathize with. SEE 2. The Five-Year Engagement is a story about procrastination and how it impacts a couple and those around them. Emily Blunt and Jason Segel star in this romantic comedy that is a little darker than most. The sub plots and family members are fun to watch and story is layered and nicely woven. Now we love Emily Blunt and Jason Segel, but not as a couple. Jason is not your typical leading man which we like, but his quirkiness doesn’t quite work with Emily’s droll demeanor. (We know that he makes Michelle Williams happy, and that’s what counts) The message? A precautionary tale to NOT wait five years to get married! See It, Skip It or Rent It? DivaGals Say: Rent It!
