GAL KID-APPROVED: Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush DVD REVIEW!
When a package of Big Time Rush DVDs appeared in the DivaGals mailbox, we knew exactly who to call — their biggest fan, 12-year-old Gabriella C., for a review. Her mom, Erika, also shares why fellow moms can totally embrace the Nickelodeon singing group with no fear!
“Big Time Rush (also known as BTR) is a popular boy band that was discovered about a year ago. When they first came out I wasn’t that big of a fan, but then my friend got me into them by having me watch all their episodes. My favorite episode is “Big Time Love Song” because it tells the story on how they made their first love song. I also love their newest episode, which is their movie, Big Time Concert. It is fun and creative and introduces many of their new songs. The thing I like best about the movie is that they use five popular Beatles songs in hope of trying to bring back their music to a younger generation. I love all of BTR’s music and don’t really have a favorite, but if I had to choose I would pick “Any Kind Of Guy.” This is because it is their first love song and is introduced in my favorite episode. Big Time Rush is my favorite band! I think they are very inspirational for kids because of their meanings that they put into their music and their way of bringing back old songs and incorporating them into their episodes.” — Gabriella
“As a parent and a preschool music teacher, many of the children I teach want me to play BTR in class. I would never play anything inappropriate, nor would I allow my 12-year-old daughter Gabriella listen to it. I approve and happen to like BTR’s music myself. It is encouraging to see Kendall, James, Carlos and Logan — a talented group of young men — sing and harmonize with music that is appropriate for all ages. There show reminds me a lot of the Monkees episodes from when I was a child: good, clean fun that puts a smile on your face with musical numbers thrown in between. They have such a wide variety of music, from slow love songs to faster, more upbeat songs — are not what I would consider to be “a one hit wonder.” The show is on Nickelodeon, so you know you are only getting good, clean family fun. If you have not heard them or seen their show, check it out. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed.” — Erika
