Our fearless intern, Krenchona Westbrook, hits the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta screening party in New York City!

What is television compared to reality? The stars of VH1′s beloved reality show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta made an appearance at The Griffin Hotel of Manhattan’s West Village on July 31 and proved firsthand how “real” the show is.

Producer Mona Scott-Young made a lovely introduction in a very flattering ensemble that greatly complimented her recent weight loss. After her speech everyone tuned into the big screen for a sneak week of the upcoming episode.

After the screening, we had the chance to chat with the cast, and every character present were ceased to be stunned by flamboyant Joseline Hernandez‘s outrageous responses, and her music producer/lover Stevie J.’s knack for avoiding the truth. When confronted about her role in the demise of Stevie J. and Mimi’s relationship, Joseline showed no shame in her actions or her past, and Stevie J. didn’t have much to say on the matter. What he did have words for was the ever clever commodity of the mighty dollar and how he and his fellow artists were about to take the world by storm.

Longtime solo-artist K. Michelle graced us with a short a cappella performance from her heartfelt song “Bury My Heart,” and she did it well. We’re glad she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves.

Curiously enough, Mimi (Oluremi Fela) Faust, Stevie J.’s on-again off-again girlfriend and mother of his baby, was not present. Neither was Erica Dixon, baby mama and on-again off-again girlfriend of southern rapper Lil Scrappy, nor fellow musician Rasheeda. It’s not hard to guess why that is given the geometric shapes drawn by the everlasting drama on the show.

The highlight of the night was K. Michelle’s solo and her wise words about what it’s like for an independent artist in the industry. At the end of the night one fails to reject the validity of personalities in real life compared to what they are on the show. Drama-free or otherwise, the stars of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta proved that what you see is definitely what you get.
