GAL APPROVED Charity: Kristin Chenoweth Fights Breast Cancer!

KristinChenowethDivaGal

The DivaGals love Kristin Chenoweth! This petite powerhouse can sing, dance and act, and TV DivaGal loves that we both stand a mere 4’11 next to one another in bare feet! Now our fave is supporting a major cause – the fight against breast cancer.

Kristin celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a “Toast To Survivors” at Alison Eighteen in NYC. Hosted by NYC television personalities, The MOMS, Kristin talked candidly about her personal connection to this debilitating disease. Her mom Junie Smith Chenoweth, who adopted Kristin as a newborn, has been battling the disease. As Kristin is determined to help find the cure, co-party host MARTINI sparkling wine donated $10,000 to her charitable endeavors though her foundation, Maddie’s Corner.

Read below for some of the candid and comic thoughts Kristin shared at the intimate event. On who she was honoring that day…
I was doing a TV show, Pushing Daisies, and I took a leave because my mom was getting a double mastectomy. We know this is a pest and now we want to get rid of it. So the person I am here in honor of today is my mother, my aunt Rosalyn, my aunt Jeanie, and all us of who has known someone who is fighting this battle.

On being able to give back to her mom…
When I was able to be there for my mom and help her through this time, she said to me, “You’re saving me now.” I always feel like I won the lottery when I got her as my mom.

On keeping her spirits up when dealing with adversity…
I like to get myself a treat. I get myself a present. I might get some lip gloss or a cookie. I talk to my good friends that I trust and love when I’m having a down day.

On pursuing your dreams…
Anything that you believe in, I encourage you to do it. And I encourage you to give back. It doesn’t have to be financial; use your power, your brain, your creativity. To help end this disease that I hate so much – I don’t hate a lot of things, but I hate cancer.

On dressing the petite figure…
On little petites like us, less is more. I love to wear a lot of stuff, but when I do, it looks like I’ve been in my mother’s closet, and my mother is 5’8. Solid colors – I have a short torso, so if I wear high waisted things, I look pregnant. Which would be fine if I were, but I’m not. I’m wearing Nanette Lepore today.

Her one addiction…
I do have one addiction… shoes! I don’t have any children and I don’t have a husband, and I don’t live above my means, but I do buy Louboutins!
