TV DIVAGAL: Our NYTVF Festival RECAP!
Last week, hundreds gathered in Tribeca for the 8th annual New York Television Festival (NYTVF). Along with a week-long slate of TV premieres and panels, the yearly event allows aspiring TV makers to pitch their TV ideas to network and production company executives, and The DivaGals had a front row seat with our own project up for consideration!
We attended the NY premiere of The Carrie Diaries, where series star AnnaSophia Robb, who was born in 1993, shared that it’s “pretty cool” to experience life pre-cell phone and the Internet. Classic! Read our full review of the series, which premieres in January, here.
We also got a chance to take in several independent pilot projects at the Festival, which included the celeb-filled comedy Actors Anonymous from the adorable René Ashton (Lorenzo Lamas was hilarious!), which won VH1′s “Theory of Creativity” Award, and The Dody Show created by True Blood star Carrie Preston. The intriguing dramas Books, Black and White and The Louder the Better had us totally engaged; congrats to Books winning the the IPC Award for best drama.
Many festivities took place at 92Y Tribeca, where honorary DivaGal and chef Diane Easton palled around with Jersey Shore stars during their farewell panel.
On Friday, we joined the funny ladies of Fox: New Girl creator Liz Merriweather and star Hannah Simone; Ben and Kate‘s Dakota Johnson and Lucy Punch; and Raising Hope‘s Shannon Woodward, who had us all rolling with their fast and furious quips about serving up the chuckles in Hollywood. Of course, they were all impeccably dressed dispelling any myths that funny ladies can’t be fashionable too.
Of course, the week ended with the NYTVF Awards… While our project African Dance Queen didn’t win, we loved being a part of this exciting cycle that gives brilliantly creative artists a chance to make the next wave of must-see television. TV DivaGal can’t wait to watch!

Awesome Tribeca Festivals. Actors Anonymous for the win!
