GAL APPROVED Weekend: Better Sound, Fade-proof Makeup & Save The Earth
SAVE. Earth Day is April 22. Here are some highly recommended earth-friendly products from the Go Green product show.
1. Celebrate Earth Day and take good notes, preferably on Post-it notes. Did you know that the majority of Post-it products use at least 30 percent recycled paper? This year they have styled up and added more stickiness. We love more stickiness! …
2. Yube Cube . It’s hot German furniture made out of bamboo!
3. Unwanted junk mail means a lot less trees. Use this hot advocacy tool plus group that could help you and the rest of the world from destroying our forests.

Dancing With the Stars: Diva Boys Premiere Night Review!
Back again for another fun filled season of our favorite dancing show – Dancing With the Stars! Hopefully your favorite Diva Boys will be soon reporting live from the studio for one of these episodes. Here are our first impressions and picks to win:
Maria Menounos
Jack Wagner
Melissa Gilbert
Sherri Sheperd, we love us some Sherri!
Gladys Knight, loved ya, but you movin’ slow!
Urkel? No way. Great to see alums Susan Lucci, Flo Henderson, and Chaz Bono in the house!!!
Maria & Derek (cha cha)- Wow, Maria is one of my picks to win this thing. I love her energy, and she was soooo pretty. What a great opening, and she’s smokin’ hot. Love her laugh !!! She can loosen up a bit, but she’s gonna do great. Turn up the sex appeal, Maria!
Jack & Anna (foxtrot)- I’ve always loved Jack Wagner, oooohh Frisco! And come on, Melrose Place? He rules. Jack is another favorite of mine to win. He looks wonderful, and even if he’s just skipping thru the steps, he’s our hero. He’s a real actor, and he’s got such presence, like Donny Osmond!!! Go, Jack, go!
Donald & Peta (cha cha) – I don’t really care for the sports cast members, but damn, this guy can move. Loved it. He’s a real crowd pleaser, the place went nuts for him!
Gavin & Karina (foxtrot) – OOOhhhh Karina, you won last time! You better be good. OK. This dude is totally charming. I can’t get enough of his smile. He’s also graceful and really hit the steps. I think he’s going to be a force in this show!
Roshon & Chelsie (cha cha) – who is this? I adore Chelsie, so I guess I’ll give this guy a chance. He’s the youngest cast member and he’s doing pretty good. Very sharp moves – including the moonwalk! The young underdog has some moves!
Sherri & Val (foxtrot) – go Sherri GO! She kicked butt. Looked fabulous in violet sequins, and surprisingly light on her feet. She lit up the room with her glowing smile and Sherri baby routine.
Melissa & Maks (chacha) – super sexy routine. Melissa Gilbert rocks… loved her fast footwork. I really like her, and am routing for her in the finals as well! Go Half Pint!
William & Cheryl (chacha) – William is muy caliente, but his routine was just alright. His good looks should get him far.
Martina & Tony – (foxtrot) – kinda boring. Martina gonna need votes!
Katherine & Mark – (foxtrot) – well, I love Mark, and this little blonde canary is adorable, but this routine is putting me to sleep! She has danced before, you can tell.
Gladys & Tristan – (cha cha) – wow Wow WOW! she was lovely.. .slow, steady, and fabulous!!!! The crowd went WILD for Gladys Knight. She lit up the room! She’s still got it for sure!
Jaleel & Kym – (foxtrot) Urkel is too slow for me. I love Kym, but Jaleel looks a little too serious and stiff. Smooth, serious, sexy and the highest scorer tonight!
The DivaGals Remember Whitney Houston
The DivaGals are shocked and saddened by the death of Whitney Houston. We share our fondest memories of the iconic singer.
TV DivaGal. “I have always loved… Whitney Houston. I remember watching her “How Will I Know” video as a teen and grooving to its catchy beat as I admired her beauty, and not-so-secretly envied her voice. As an adult, her music of the eighties and nineties became my go to Karaoke songs — my little tribute to one of my most favorites singers. She truly will be missed.”
Music Gal. “”I Will Always Love You,” my favorite song. I hope that Bobbi Kristina carries the positive aspects of her mom’s legacy well into the future.
Image Gal. “My favorite song is “Give Me One Moment In Time.” She had a voice that was other-worldy, a voice that could lift you up and inspire you. She was the Billy Holiday of our time. It’s a sad loss for the world. What else might have she moved us with had she conquered her demons?”
DigiGal. “I remember seeing The Bodyguard with TV DivaGal in an old, local movie theater, and it was magical, even if I did get sick of hearing “I Will Always Love You” on the radio every five minutes. Kids today don’t realize how big she was int he eighties; they just know of her troubled life in recent years. But she truly was one of the greats. So talented, it’s sad.”
Fitness Gal. “She was an absolute beauty and she will truly be missed. When she was good, she was great!”

GAL APPROVED Weekend: Breaking Dawn Review; Sipping with Dita Von Teese, Make Beauty MyHabit.com & Black Friday Price Deals with Savvy.com!
SEE. You’ve been waiting for it for … eternity. Now The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part I, is finally here! How can anyone fault a movie that opens with the ripped abs of Taylor Launter, who plays hottie werewolf Jacob? We all know that the beginning of the end of the popular vampire series commences with the wedding of Bella and Edward. And what a wedding it is. Set in a dreamy forest filled with white flowers, Bella makes her way down the aisle in a classic column gown (with a gorgeous reveal in the back) as family and friends share in the stunning couple’s most special day. While most of the guests are happy about it, not everyone is supportive of this (un?)holy union including, of course, that hottie werewolf! But it’s off to the honeymoon for these lovebirds where fans will finally get to see Bella and Edward consummate their relationship. And that’s when things go awry. For diehard fans of the Breaking Dawn book, the rest of the film brings Stephenie Meyer‘s pages to life in vivid colors and some amazing CGI that’s brilliant and disturbing. There may be some explanations needed for those who are learning the series just on celluloid. But even if you haven’t read the entire series, the film’s artistic vision under cinematic director Bill Condon can be enjoyed by vampires, werewolves and humans alike. (TV DivaGal & Luxe Gal)

Eco-Friendly Products… from The Body Shop
DigiGal checks out the technology behind The Body Shop’s hottest new eco-friendly products.
Been to The Body Shop lately? I have, and it was a revelation!
The pioneering natural, ethical brand held an event in Los Angeles at its store in the upscale Beverly Center to promote the launch of its new, limited line of eco-friendly, skin-healthy cosmetics, “Brush with Fashion.”
The first thing I saw when I approached the store were attendants offering refreshing mocktails and bite-size cupcakes. Yes, please! Then I saw the photographer. I’m no red carpet poser, but I did wind up in front of the camera. How? Read on…
I was quite taken with the packaging for the “Brush With Fashion” collection. It’s striking and modern, and every product comes with its own brush.
The design was created in collaboration with the internationally-acclaimed London College of Fashion (Jimmy Choo went there!). It gets better: The line incorporates marula oil, a natural moisturizer sourced from Namibia. In fact, The Body Shop’s Fair Trade relationship has enabled the Namibian women who make the oil to build their own factory and gain economic freedom. Now that’s girl power.
I couldn’t wait to try this line, and I got a coveted one-on-one session with celebrity beauty expert Shalini Vadhera. Her celebrity clients include Brooke Burke, Malin Akerman and Emmanuelle Chirqui. She used the Illuminating Face Base as my primer, then a swipe of bronzer as my blush. I asked her for a dramatic, smoky eye, and she immediately picked up the Limited Collection for Eyes in A La Mode. That was followed by Big & Curvy mascara on my upper and lower lashes. I have to say that I have extremely sensitive skin, and all of these products felt lightweight on my face and were completely non-irritating.
Shalini finished with a swipe of Hi-Shine Lip Treatment in Pink Cream and then sent me to the photographer to shoot a portrait/head-shot of me! Did they do a good job? Check out the results.
I asked Shalini what is the number one mistake young women make with their makeup. “Using too much!” she immediately replied. “Less is more and blend, blend, blend!”
I also got the scoop on the NEW, not-yet-in-stores Honey Bronze line. This stuff smells goooood. I loved the Shimmering Dry Oil. There’s also a lip balm, a bronzer (in three shades), and a face gel. And the bees that produce the honey? They are raised in the Bale mountains of Ethiopia in handmade beehives made of local bamboo. That saves bee colonies and prevents deforestation. Talk about sustainable!
OK, I admit I had another motive: to ask (beg!) The Body Shop to resurrect my favorite Banana Hair Conditioner. Lo and behold, it’s back!
If you’re like me, then you are also looking for beauty products free of parabens, sulfates and chemical dyes. I was very pleased to discover their new lines, Earth Lovers and Rainforest shampoo and conditioners.
One last, very important matter: I urge you all to support The Body Shop’s “Stop Sex Trafficking of Children and Young People” campaign. As the third-largest criminal industry in the world, sex trafficking is trapping over 1.5 girls in modern-day slavery. You can go to their website right now to sign their very important petition to lobby for “Safe Harbor” laws in all 50 US states. Celebs such as Susan Sarandon, Robert Pattinson, Rob Lowe and Sienna Miller have already signed up.
Forgot to get a gift for Mom for Mother’s Day? Make it up to here with a Wise Woman starter kit from The Body Shop. She’ll feel wise to know you’ve learned better late than never!

Inside Oscar Weekend Gifting Suites, Part II
Got A Tech Question? Hit Me Up at AskDigiGal.
DigiGal’s Oscar Weekend Gifting Suite adventures continues…
On the big day before the Oscars, I visited the LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge at the 2011 Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, the only “official” gift lounge Oscar’s weekend!
With a chance to experience LG’s latest TV offering — the LG Cinema 3D HDTV — the lounge was packed. I couldn’t help but rub shoulders with celebs like BFFs Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman, who checked out the new TV together. And why not? The LG’s newest 3D HGTV boasts lighter-weight 3D eyewear, a wider viewing angle and affordability. Nice…
They weren’t the only stars to check out LG’s next-generation 3D technology. Rosario Dawson and Beastly‘s Vanessa Hudgens were also fans. (It probably helped that LG was giving celebs a free 47″ TV upon request!).
In addition to the LG Cinema 3D HDTV, there were other favorites to be found in the Gift Lounge, like the AMC Entertainment Signature Pass for a year of free movies for two, which Zoe Saldana said was “cool.”
A luxurious weekend suite stay at the Ritz-Carlton, a free pair or two of New Balance sneakers, custom fittings for designer eyewear and a year membership to any/all Crunch gyms were also big hits. I heard that Jane Lynch not only accepted the free Crunch membership, but that when she heard Crunch offers a Glee-type fitness class, she said she would try to attend. Totally sign me up!

Inside Oscar Weekend Gifting Suites!
Got A Tech Question? Hit Me Up at: AskDigiGal.
DigiGal takes on Oscar weekend with a little gifting suite love!
Living in Los Angeles has its perks. I was more than ready to step up when asked to check out Trident Vitality at the EXTRA Lounge, part of Vanity Fair‘s Campaign Hollywood 2011 inside Palihouse, a private and luxurious boutique hotel and residency in West Hollywood, two days before Oscar’s big night.
My first stop was the stations set up to reflect the flavors of the new gum: Vigorate, Rejuve and Awaken. There I tried the personal oxygen bars (cost to bring home: $500-900). From the choices of unscented, citrus, mint, or eucalyptus, I tried them all (of course!), but loved eucalyptus the best. Did it work? I did feel refreshed afterwards. Oscar nom Haille Steinfeld (True Grit), Jennifer Love Hewitt and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Taylor Armstrong must have felt refreshed too. They received a year’s supply of gum from Trident!
Next up was a heavenly massage from De Leon of Heavenly Hands Mobile Spa, servicing the Beverly Hills area. He is the masseuse for the cast and crew of C.S.I. While I don’t spend my day hunched over (fake) dead bodies, I am hunched over my laptop, so this truly was divine. I topped off my experience with a glass of freshly squeezed O.J. — Nutrition Gal would approve.
The party continued into the night with a group of female DJs, including the hot duo of violinist Caitlin Moe and DJ Mia Moretti, spinning laid-back tunes to complete the lounge’s laid-back vibe. Parfait!
Tune in tomorrow for my day at the Spirit Awards gift lounge!
DIGIGAL:
Fashionable Gadgets!
DigiGal gets into the spirit of Fashion Week with gadgets that are so in style!
Did you watch Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl VII in 3-D? If you had an extra $5,000 to spend, you may have!
DigiGal here, to tell you about the newest, hottest gadgets and electronics off the red carpet and on the market. You can indeed watch 3-D television from home. Those un-glam glasses you wear in theaters are still required, but not for long. Toshiba already has a glasses-free 3-D set, but only offers a small 20-inch display.
Up in the air, travel like the jet set does: Go first class, keep on your over-sized shades, and slip on noise-cancelling headphones like these by Bose. They drown out the plane’s engines, the crying baby in row 22 and even pesky fans seated next to you. You’ll never hear a thing, other than your iTunes mix.
Want music following you wherever you go? You could wear your headphones 24/7 (um, not recommended!), or you could get the multi-room ZonePlayer system by Santa Barbara company Sonos. Plug in your iPod and play the music in any room of your house, without wires!
The rich and famous not only have their pictures taken, they also take photos themselves. Of course you want the best camera money can buy! If you missed the limited-edition Leica camera in Neiman-Marcus’s 2010 Holiday Catalog for $17,500, the Leica M9 Limited Edition Silver Chrome Set is available for the comparatively low price of $12,950. This is a digital camera, but every setting can be manually adjusted. Not only is it considered the best, most advanced camera in the word, but it is a gorgeous camera to look at! Better hurry, though. Only 50 cameras will be made!
Of course you want a mobile phone that stands out from the crowd of iPhones. Get your hands on the newly-revealed HTC Thunderbolt. It will run on 4G, the new, faster wireless system (think broadband for your phone). If you’re a gamer, you may want to check out Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play being announced this weekend. A phone and a Playstation that fits in your pocket! Want more bling for your ring? How about a 24 carat gold iPhone? Better yet, get one covered in diamonds! For a tablet computer, there’s more than the iPad. The Motorola Xoom premiered during the Super Bowl last weekend. It’s powered by Google’s Android system, the same as Droid cell phones. You may already have an iPad, but what are you carrying it in? A-Listers protect theirs with a couture iPad case, like these by Gucci, Prada and Chanel.
These days, technology is moving and improving so fast, that it’s only a matter of time before today’s cutting-edge gadget is tomorrow’s paperweight. Don’t worry, DigiGal will be here to keep you informed!

DigiGal: Back It Up, Girl!
Got a question for DigiGal? Hit her up here: @AskDigiGal
Meet our newest “Gal,” DigiGal, who’s ready to bring you all the coolest from the digital world. Get plugged in, ladies!
Remember that episode of Sex and the City where Carrie’s computer crashed and she lost everything she ever wrote? That was so last century, right? Unfortunately, in 2011 computers still do crash (and get dropped, yikes!).
Luckily, there are lots of easy ways to make sure you protect everything on your computer, from your vacation photos and last year’s tax info to your big presentation for work.
First, make sure you have a USB Flash drive (also called a memory stick), key drive or thumb drive, named such because they are about the size of your thumb. The small size makes them ultra portable and ideal from transferring documents from one computer to another. These plug into your USB drive (there’s usually two or more of these ports on your computer). Then you just drag the files you want to copy to the USB drive folder on your Desktop. Easy, right? Not only that, there are tons of options for thumb drives, from high-end products, like this silvered USB from LaCie, to these super cute designs that can be found at Gadget4all.com.
To back up your entire computer, an external hard drive is the way to go. These can also connect to your computer via a USB, but their larger capacity allows you to make a copy of everything on your computer, including applications and large-sized files. Any electronics store should have a good selection of backup drives. Before you get overwhelmed with options, though, all you need to look at is the amount of data the hard drive can store. A good rule of thumb is to purchase one with twice as much memory capacity as your computer. If your laptop has a 4 Gigabyte hard drive, for example, look for an external device with at least 8 Gigs of space. You might even own an external hard drive already; did you know you can use your iPod to back up data?
Finally, if you have a huge amount of very important data to protect (say you run a business from your home computer), there is remote backup via the Internet. Your files aren’t stored physically on any device, but are saved at and by a company specializing in this service. They can schedule backups on a regular basis and restore any lost information. This can be an expensive option, but the security it offers is priceless.
No matter how important you think your files are, it’s crucial that you take the time to regularly back up your computer. Now you know how to protect your data, so don’t wait until you spill coffee on your laptop!
