GAL APPROVED: Inside the The CW Upfront!
Luxe Gal attends her first CW Upfront, and lives to tell all about it!
The presentation started with a performance from Icona Pop with “I Love It (I Don’t Care),” and a bow from Vampire Diaries‘ Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev (couldn’t have be easy after their breakup!).
The CW is the network of that gives us bad-ass hotties. This coming season brings us more, with high concept and supernatural-themed shows. Their online content at “CW Seed” fills the space with edgy comedy which, if all goes well, will graduate to prime time.
The CW plans to continue their groundbreaking use of multi-platform in the digital age. This season you will also be able to watch their programs on AppleTV, once again allowing audiences to watch when, where and on whatever platform they prefer.
The CW’s fall lineup includes a sexy spinoff of The Vampire Diaries called The Originals, starring Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies and Claire Holt as the original vampire family.
New dramas include Reign and the rebooted The Tomorrow People. From executive producers Greg Berlanti and Julie Plec, it’s about young people from all over the world who possess special powers that make people fear and/or hate them (kinda like X-Men except everyone is young and sexy). The Tomorrow People is based on a 1970s British series of the same name — looks like telepathy, teleportation and telekinesis is still hot 40 years later!
Reign is a historical soap with a cast of pouty-mouthed hotties in period costume. It focuses on the teen years of Mary, Queen of Scots, and her rise to power in the 16th century. Australian actress Adelaide Kane stars.
Old favorites will return in new time slots: Hart of Dixie and Beauty and the Beast to Mondays, while The Carrie Diaries shifts to Fridays in front of America’s Next Top Model.
Midseason look for The 100. Set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, a spaceship housing the lone human survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth to investigate the possibility of “re-colonizing the planet.” Series stars include Henry Ian Cusick, Isaiah Washington, Eli Goree, Bob Morley, Marie Avgeropoulos and Paige Turco.

GAL APPROVED Weekend: Star Trek, Clean Home & Idol Congrats!
SEE. Star Trek fans were teased with the the following synopsis: “In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis…” Star Trek Into Darkness brings back the very scary Khan — as in “the wrath of Khan” — which means all kinds of drama, making us fear that one of our most beloved Star Trek characters may not survive. This latest ST incarnation is fun, and it’s great to watch Chris Pine play James Kirk with little references to the role’s originator William Shatner. The locked gaze, the verbal reparte with Bones and Spock … it’s all good as the sci-fi flick with characters many have grown up with takes us into old territory in a new way, with better special effects and updated characters. Spock in love with Uhura? Uhura speaking Klingon? Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto? What’s not to love? Maybe die-hard Trekkies will be disappointed, but you know what? The only thing that would really make them happy is if Gene Roddenberry returned from the dead to write and direct 10 new episodes! Catch Star Trek Into Darkness in 3D so you feel like you have a front row seat on the Enterprise!
GAL APPROVED! CBS’ New TV Shows to Watch This Fall!
With 20 shows returning to its lineup – including NCIS, the number one show on TV, would CBS have any run in its schedule for something new?
Yep.
The DivaGals may have been in the last balcony seat in Carnegie Hall, but we got the scoop on the six new shows to premiere on CBS this fall. Here are the ones we’re most excited about.
DIVAGALSDAILY DISH: Cannes Film Festival, Celebrity breakups +++
The Cannes Film Festival has opened with a big splash and lot new films …
This makes us sad … Cute Vampire Dairies stars Nina Dobrev and Ian somerhalder have broken up …
File this under “As if” .. Katie Holmes is a man magnet on the set of her new film. Everyone including production crew and extras keep asking her out … yeah nice idea but its not going to happen.
File this under “Hell hath no fury” … Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore’s divorce continues to be contentious …

GAL APPROVED! ABC’s New TV Shows to Watch This Fall!
The ABC fall season is about family … dysfunctional families that will be the “New Normal.”
The Goldbergs (Tuesdays, 9 p.m.) It’s dysfunctional funny family Part I. Set in the ’80s, this sitcom is full of “awkward” family moments. Some are cute, some are cringe worthy — and most of it is caught on a huge video camera of the precocious baby brother.
DISHING DIVA: Hart’s Change of Heart!
Just because you have a bitter divorce doesn’t mean you can’t buy your ex-wife a major gift for Mother’s Day!
Laugh At My Pain star Kevin Hart was married to fellow comic Torrei Hart for seven years until their divorce in 2010, and the couple has two children.
For the May 12 holiday, Kevin gifted Torrei a diamond “Hart” necklace. Hello mama!
DIVAGALS DAILY DISH: Angelina Jolie cancer warrior, Jaden Smith seeks emancipation +++
Add Cancer warrior to Angelina Jolie‘s resume … Brad Pitt‘s partner confronts a dire cancer prediction with a double mastectomy.
CBS’ hit comedy How I Met Your Mother ended the season with a finale that gave viewers a first look at the actress who will play Ted’s final love interest …
Tune into FOX for the new season of So You Think You Can Dance tonight at 8 p.m.
R.I.P Dr. Joyce Brothers, TV psychologist and columnist.
Will and Jada Smith’s son Jaden is seeking emancipation. Why would a 14-year-old millionaire want to live on his own? Maybe the old adage applies here? Give a kid enough rope and __ will ____ himself.
File this under “good for him but bad for SNL“: Bill Hader is leaving the Saturday night sketch series.
GAL APPROVED! Fox’s New TV Shows to Watch This Fall!
There’s nothing like hitting the FOX Upfront party and meeting Lili Taylor, one of our fave ’90s movie actresses (for Dogfight), who now stars on the new FOX series Almost Human. Or listening to The Following‘s Kevin Bacon lead his band The Bacon Brothers in a toe-tapping set. And we just couldn’t get enough of the sweets bar from Relish catering company – delish!
Here are the shows you should check out this fall on Fox.
GAL APPROVED! NBC’s New TV Shows to Watch This Fall!
It’s that time of year for the network TV Upfronts!
The DivaGals will be attending a ton of network presentations and parties, so tune every day this week for our previews of the shows that you know you’re going to want to watch!
The week started off with the NBC Upfront – where we got the morning off right with The Roots, and watched a year in NBC review from Parks & Recreation‘s Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson, who also offered some new show ideas (Pawnee Fire, anyone?)
Here are the shows you’ll want to watch on NBC this fall:
DIVAGALS DAILY DISH: Ironman 3 is #1, Beyonce expecting #2 +++
Kanye West makes his film debut on Anchorman 2.
Rumor has it that Beyonce and Jay Z are expecting baby no. two … whether it’s true or not remains to be seen. You know the speculation won’t stop until she pops out another one…
Seth Meyers will be taking over Jimmy Fallon’s Late Night spot. And Community is back for 13 episodes!
Barbara Walters has a set a date for her retirement.
Iron Man 3 continues to dominate the box office.
NBC Today’s Show co-host Savannah Guthrie is engaged!
FOX is bringing back its mega hit 24 … as a 12-hour special event.
