2012 Oscars Fashion: Will Octavia Spencer Wear Tadashi Again?

tadashi

The Oscars are here! The Oscars are here! The 84th Annual Academy Awards airs tonight at 8:30 p.m/EST on ABC. But you know what the DivaGals really care about — the red carpet dresses (so we’ll starting tuning in at 4:30 p.m.!).

We’ll definitely be watching for what best actress nominees Viola Davis, Rooney Mara, Glenn Close, Michelle Williams and yes, even Meryl Streep, work on the carpet.

And we’re dying to know if best supporting actress nominee Octavia Spencer will once again wear Tadashi Shoji. The Help star was wearing a custom-made Tadashi dress when she scored the Golden Globe!

Luxe Gal actually spoke with Tadashi at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, and he was charmingly mysterious… Check it below!

The DivaGals Remember Whitney Houston

Whitney-Houston

The DivaGals are shocked and saddened by the death of Whitney Houston. We share our fondest memories of the iconic singer.

TV DivaGal. “I have always loved… Whitney Houston. I remember watching her “How Will I Know” video as a teen and grooving to its catchy beat as I admired her beauty, and not-so-secretly envied her voice. As an adult, her music of the eighties and nineties became my go to Karaoke songs  — my little tribute to one of my most favorites singers. She truly will be missed.”

Music Gal. “”I Will Always Love You,” my favorite song. I hope that Bobbi Kristina carries the positive aspects of her mom’s legacy well into the future.

Image Gal. “My favorite song is “Give Me One Moment In Time.” She had a voice that was other-worldy, a voice that could lift you up and inspire you. She was the Billy Holiday of our time. It’s a sad loss for the world. What else might have she moved us with had she conquered her demons?”

DigiGal. “I remember seeing The Bodyguard with TV DivaGal in an old, local movie theater, and it was magical, even if I did get sick of hearing “I Will Always Love You” on the radio every five minutes. Kids today don’t realize how big she was int he eighties; they just know of her troubled life in recent years. But she truly was one of the greats. So talented, it’s sad.”

Fitness Gal. “She was an absolute beauty and she will truly be missed. When she was good, she was great!”

Music Gal TV Show To Watch: On the Scene at the Soul Train Awards!

Anthony HamiltonKrystal

Music Gal is up close and personal at the Soul Train Awards 2011, airing this weekend on BET and CENTRIC!

The 2011 Soul Train Awards took place in Atlanta, Ga., or as most people delightfully dub the city, “Hotlanta!” Though it was a bone chilling 45 degrees outside, the red carpet was ablaze with hot celebrities!

The finest men were out, including Kenny Lattimore, Anthony Hamilton (pictured with yours truly!), Common and Lance Gross. The ladies were flawnting their sexy and vibrant styles as well. Beauties that graced the carpet included Keri Hilson, Melanie Fiona, Marsha Ambrosius, Mary Mary, Amber Rose and celebrity blogger Necole Bitchie, who was rocking heel-less Giuseppe Zanotti shoes that don’t come out until December!

Marsha Ambrosius & Atlanta Housewife Phaedra Parks dished on their secrets to keeping fit during the holidays (tune in next week for our exclusive video!). Once the “train” departed inside the Fox Theater, everyone held on for the ride of the year!

Cedric the Entertainer was the host with the most … jokes that is! He kept the audience entertained from the start with his B-Boy dance routine and shared mid-show “Twitter updates” from people like Madea and Herman Cain. Toward the end of the show, he and former co star Terri Vaughn took viewers back to the Steve Harvey Show with a “Levita Jenkins and Ceddy” skit.

Some of the night’s performers included Lloyd, Cee Lo Green & Melanie Fiona, my personal pal Miguel and Mindless Behavior.

You won’t want to miss the tribute for the late Heavy D, which includes performances by Naughty by Nature, the Goodie Mob, Doug E. Fresh and Curtis Blow. Gladys Knight and Earth, Wind & Fire, the night’s honorees, got their props with performances by Marsha Ambrosius, Tamar Braxton and Mary Mary. Ms. Knight even got on stage for an impromptu performance, which rocked the house!

Earth, Wind & Fire closed out the show by rocking out with Bootsy Collins, Joe, Eric Benet and Robin Thicke!

By the time the show was over, audience members were feeling good and ready to keep the train going. The night eventually had to come to an end, and though “Neither one of us” (Gladys Knight) wanted to say goodbye, we all can “Sing a song” (Earth,Wind & Fire) and keep the good times rolling in our hearts and homes with a little “Love, Peace and Soooouuul!” Catch the broadcast of Soul Train Music Awards 2011 Sunday, Nov. 27 at 9 p.m. on BET and CENTRIC.

Check out our slideshow below and more of our exclusive pics from the red carpet on the DivaGals Facebook page.

GAL APPROVED Best Beach Music & Hamptons Style!

RalphLaurenbedding

DECORATE. How to make your home feel more like a getaway in the Hamptons? Our Design Diva Joy Moyler suggests a few haute products to pull it off! “I absolutely adore the Ralph Lauren Home ‘Indigo Modern’ bedding collection. I’ve slept on these delicious lovelies throughout the summer. They got me through the hottest days in July, mentally preparing my mind for my vacation. Now that I’ve returned from Maui, they have been what’s kept me sane upon return to the “concrete jungle” of New York City. There’s nothing like being bathed in tropical indigo blues; it’s as if you are swimming in the ocean. I also love this White Small Mod Zebra Bowl I got from Vivre.com. I purchased several and use them to store anything, from my rings to olives and sugar cubes. They are $150 a piece, but so worth it.”

PARTY. Luxe Gal Maureen Martin hits the Hamptons magazine cover party! “Hamptons celebrated cover boy Andy Cohen on Monday Night at New York City’s Hudson Hotel in Midtown West. The Bravo VP sipped cocktails and talked about his new celeb status and his wardrobe essentials (FYI, he is all about Ralph Lauren!) He also admitted loves to see the fur fly on Bravo’s reality franchise The Housewives. Guests in attendance included Beverly Hills Housewives star Camille Grammer, the ladies of The Real Housewives NYC, Law & Order: SVU‘s Tamara Tunie, celebrity stylist/actor Phillip Bloch and actress Kyle Richards.

LISTEN. No beach trip is complete without the right soundtrack! Here’s the top five songs you must have on your portable, according to our own Music Gal, Krystal “Clear” Whyms:

“Party” – Beyonce/ Andre 3000
“Novicane” – Frank Ocean
“Trust Issues”- Drake
“Don’t Break My Heart” – Estelle/ Rick Ross
“How to Love” – Lil Wayne
