GROOVE. Want to know where the hottest parties are this summer? Well the DivaGals got you covered! If you’re in New York City, check out the Museum of Modern Art for their Warm-Up concert series! Sponsored by Volkswagen, the Summer Artist Party series offers the coolest outdoor concerts every week with the best indie acts and DJs, and did we mention open bar? Opening night we partied the night away, with music by Shamir whose magical voice lit up the night skies!
A luminous ecosystem centerpiece called the Cosmos sparked major attention, plus Sway of Shade 45 from Sirius XM was spotted on the scene for the all night action! For more details, visit momaps1.org/warmup.
TASTE. There’s some new boys in town and they’ve stolen our hearts on their very first night! We’re talking about the five-star chefs at the brand new Sushi Roxx in New York City! Whipping up the best of Japanese soul food, this Tokyo inspired dining and nightlife experience offers the finest gourmet cuisine, freshest cocktails, and liveliest entertainment. With sushi rolls named the “Big Mac” and “Godzilla,” and costumes designed by legendary Betsey Johnson, who can resist? The DivaGals were there on opening night and were treated with the utmost hospitality in VIP. Make your reservation ASAP. We promise you, you will leave there feeling full and loved all over!
READ. Make sure you pick up the latest copy of Heart & Soul. Our favorite ballerina Diva Misty Copeland is on the cover. The soloist, upcoming Broadway star and Under Amour spokesperson talks about redefining body types for the ballet stage and how the mentors who encouraged her never listened to the naysayers. She also shows (quite literally), how she has become an inspiration to others. Such an amazing story of determination and triumph! On newsstands now.
LISTEN. We’ve always enjoyed hanging out with Angeli Kakade at various events and functions – so it was so nice to see the singer/songwriter be the focal point as she presented her new EP, presented by The Knockturnal at Flavorlab recording studios. Many notables came to support Angeli, like travel writer Teri Johnson and The Knockturnal editor OJ Williams. We enjoyed refreshing cocktails courtesy of Svedka Vodka (Cherry, Raspberry, Grapefruit Jalapeño and Clementine flavors) as the EP’s three songs (available on iTunes) – “All I Want,” “Summer Kiss” and “You’re Not My Baby” – were presented. Angeli told AXS.com, “I was going through a break up earlier this year and instead of being upset about it, I decided to channel those feelings onto paper. Writing of any kind is so therapeutic. Each song represents a different stage in a relationship.” We can so get behind that!
LISTEN TOO. It’s been 20 years since Tyrese serenaded the world with that sultry voice and dazzling white smile in his debut Coca-Cola commercial. Now he’s back with his sixth and declared last solo album Black Rose, a new book, and a short film with Jennifer Hudson. The Fast & Furious star says this album is his most intimate and honest work as he opened up about losing his friend and Fast & Furious costar, Paul Walker, and being caught cheating by his girlfriend of five years. We had to ask him the big question during the his recent AOL Build Series live stream, “What will keep you from cheating again?” Check out his response to DivaGalsDaily below ! Black Rose in stores now!
