GAL APPROVED! Memorial Fun in Southampton! Plus: Hudson Yang Goes Back To School!By The DivaGals | June 3, 2016 | Gal Approved
VISIT. Looking for a little place to get away from it all? How about Southampton, N.Y.? Located on Long Island and part of the Hamptons that all Manhattanites get away to for summer weekends, this little town is sleepier than its East Hampton and Bridgehampton counterparts. And we didn’t mind one bit.
Arriving on Main St. Memorial Day weekend, we enjoyed an outdoor lunch at a local Italian restaurant, and then headed to the waterfront to digest our calamari and Prosecco. Then it was off for the annual pool party at Southampton Inn on its manicured courtyard, and dined on dishes from the Inn’s new restaurant Café Klyde: burgers, chicken, sweet treats and margaritas.
After a catnap poolside, we were refreshed enough to headed just a few minutes away to Kozu, Southampton’s new Japanese fusion restaurant, for the AVENUE on the Beach Summer 2016 kick-off party. Hosted by AVENUE President Randi Schatz, it featured DJ Super Dave and makeovers from one of our fave beauty spots Blushington (which now have on the go services that come to you!). We enjoyed our bubbly with scrumptious nibbles from the Kozu kitchen. What a lovely holiday!
SUPPORT. The DivaGals spent an evening with Fresh Off The Boat star Hudson Yang — and his dad Wall Street Journal Culture Columnist Jeff Yang – when the two were honored at the Central Queens Academy Charter School event last month. The, tuition-free, college-prep school serving underserved students in New York City raised nearly $355,000. That included bidding on a dinner with Hudson and his dad. Held at The Vine, a beautiful second-story space inside at the Eventi Hotel in midtown Manhattan, Hudson told the 250 guests in attendance that CQA is “an important organization,” and it’s important to attend school to make friends and aspire to a productive future.
