GAL APPROVED! See Zootopia! Plus: Tasty Indian and Back To Last Man On Earth! March 4, 2016March 4, 2016The DivaGals Leave a Comment SEE. The DivaGals got invited to a special screening of Disney’s newest feature Zootopia, and boy, are we happy we accepted. This movie is so much more than a bunny and fox taking on a major crime. Judy Hopps (played by Once Upon On Time‘s Gennifer Goodwin), has wanted to wield a badge since childhood, even though she’ll be a “prey” entering a predominantly “predators” world. Of course, she works twice as hard to make it through the academy. Once there, she’s given a safe job, that is until she forces her way onto a case of a lost otter, which leads to an even bigger story that challenges the delicate balance that prey and predators have created in Zootopia’s big city. Yes, this is an animated feature, but it goes way beyond its excellent 3-D rendition, exploring issues of sexism, racism, bullying, nudism (yes, in one of the funniest scenes of the film) and even mafia-ism. This film can make us all think about why we should respect where each of us came from, and how our background does not define who we can become. And that’s no bunny fluff. Idris Elba, Jason Bateman and Shakira also star. The film opens nationwide today. EAT. We get hungry after a good film. So we’ll be heading uptown, baby, for some authentic indian cuisine at Awadh. Run by a husband and wife team, the cute couple hosted a “A Taste of Dum Pukht,” the type of low flame, slow oven cooking based in the Indian region their restaurant is named after. We enjoyed several tasty dishes, including Galouti Kebab, minced lamb patties seasoned with various spices; Anarkali Tikki, marinated pieces of meat or vegetables; Awadh Murgh Biryani, a mixture of delectable grilled chicken and rice; Lagan Ki Raan, marinated leg of lamb and Mahi Musallan, a delicious masala spiced fish wrapped in a leaf, pictured above. Awadh has brought in a new wine expert, and we enjoyed some nicely paired French reds with our meal. Is your mouth watering? Awadhi serves dinner starting at 5 p.m. and has a price fixe lunch menu for only $15! Learn more at awadhnyc.com. WATCH. Be sure to watch the return of The Last Man on Earth with one of our fave #WBWD Will Forte. But more importantly, we have to know what happened to the other Phil Miller — played by the delicious Boris Kodjoe — who was flatlining on a makeshift operation table last time we saw him (we don’t think the prognosis is good!). Tune in Sunday, March 6 at 9:30 p.m. on FOX. Share This!
