GAL APPROVED Weekend! Bernie Mac Tribute on Comedy Central and Hot Items from Fashion Week!By DIVAGALS | February 17, 2012 | Entertainment, Gal Approved
STYLE. TV DivaGal isn’t the type to go all out on her nail art, but I couldn’t resist doing something bright and bold while getting a manicure from Sinful Colors inside star stylist Robert Verdi‘s Luxe Laboratory Fashion Week retreat. The line has over 150 colors and is super-affordable with products ranging from $.99 to $4 . I did it up in Rise and Shine, a beautiful pearly turquoise — perfect for a beach getaway! The nail technicians on hand recommended keeping nails short to stay neat and making sure you add a top coat and cuticle oil daily. Sinful Colors are available across the nation at your local Duane Reade or Target and online at www.Walgreens.com. Here’s more pics from Luxe Laboratory on DivaGalsDaily Facebook.
SCULPT. Inspiration Gal loves Mizani products and was very happy to see a bottle of Mizani Pure Style Workable High Hold Gel arrive right in time for Fashion Week! One of the things I really like about Mizani products is their light natural smell, and this product delights as much as the others. It’s a light scent but attractive. I don’t use hair gel very often — only when I slick my hair back into a ponytail — so that’s what I decided to try. The directions didn’t say if the product should be used on wet hair or dry hair so being a true inspirational fashionista, I tried it both ways. The first time I used it, I dampened my hair with a light mist of water from a spray bottle. I slicked my hair back using a brush and then applied a pea size (the amount recommended by the directions) amount of gel onto my hair. Very quickly I saw that a pea size wouldn’t be enough so I added more gel and used a total of a dime size. Unlike most gels, my hair wasn’t hard after using Mizani’s Pure Style gel. It was soft and touchable, and there were no flakes falling from the dried gel either. The hair near my ears tends not to lay flat but with Mizani’s Pure Style gel they did fine. If you want a gel that gives you touchable control, this is the gel for you. Thanks Mizani!
SEE. Who doesn’t love Bernie Mac? The comedian, who lost his battle against Sarcoidosis in 2008, is now remembered in the new documentary I Ain’t Scared of You’ A Tribute To Bernie Mac, directed by one of our faves behind the camera, Robert Small (he does TV DivaGal’s Bio appearances!). The documentary features clips of Bernard McCollough – his full name – from his early days in the comedy clubs to his big breaks on the silver screen. And of course, just as Fashion Week comes to a close, it shows off Bernie’s impeccable sense of style. Our contributing reporter Lisa Bricker actually caught up with Robert and Bernie’s wife, Rhonda McCollough, at the premiere of the movie in Bernie’s hometown of Chicago! Catch I Ain’t Scared of You’ A Tribute To Bernie Mac airs this Sunday, Feb. 19 at 10 p.m. on Comedy Central.
