PROTECT. February 7 is National Wear Red Day for Go Red For Women, so it’s only befitting that The Red Dress Collection,┬á featuring celebrities in red evening gowns, happened last night. Hosted by Star Jones, a heart disease survivor, the stars strutted their stuff down the runway while their reasons to support a heart healthy life flashed across the screen. The runway was an stunning arena of beautiful women in all hues, shapes and ages. We loved seeing E! News correspondent Alicia Quarles (pictured) in Zac Posen, True Blood‘s Rutina Wesley in┬áMaxazria and The Princess and the Frog‘s Anika Noni Rose in Pamela Rolland. Olympian Lindsey Vonn accented her Cynthia Rowley dress with her crutches, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Nene Leakes shook her signature finger dressed in Dolce & Gabbana. Dallas vet Joan Van Ark brought shoulder pads back in Mark Zunino, while legendary rock and roller Joan Jett brought the house down in Catherine Malandrino and yes, heels!
WEAR. What girl doesn’t want to sparkle on Valentine’s Day? There is plenty of that from Dor├⌐, an exquisite line of gowns and chic cocktail attire. Best known for creating pieces used in ballroom, skating and pageant competitions, Dor├⌐’s Fall/Winter 2014 line is still flashy, but elegant enough to be worn to any black tie fete. At the lush runway show inside the Empire Hotel, we salivated over full-length pieces encrusted in Swarovski Crystals, and j’adored a flared gown with swirls of crushed red accents. No man on V-Day? Just channel your inner Marilyn, cause shiny baubles are a girl’s best friend!
