Get To Galena Part II – Spa and Chill (Carnival Style!) At Eagle Ridge Resort And Spa

I spent three glorious days in Galena territory, just three hours from Chicago, at Eagle Ridge Resort And Spa. As you may have noticed, Eagle Ridge has “spa” in its title, and yes, I had to take advantage!

Stonedrift Spa, located on resort’s main property – offers a host of services from mani and pedis to massages. Of course, this city gal wanted to fully relax, so I chose a Swedish Massage. I’ve been dealing with a knee injury, so my masseuse, Christy, took extra care to soothed my aching muscles with painless circular motions, especially around my troubled knee. Stonedrift Spa offers a range of massage services from Herbal Hot Stone to Reiki Experience Therapy. My gals and I also sweated out toxins in the locker steam room. Then it was time to cool down with a dip in the indoor pool – so refreshing!

Eagle Ridge was hosting its Winter Carnival – a Saturday full of activities for guests of all ages. Outside was transformed into a winter wonderland with mini-golf, ice carving demonstrations, a fur love shack – and turkey bowling (yes, done with a frozen turkey!).

An indoor playground included a bounce house, life-size chess game and arts and craft activities for children – and the opportunity to take a pic with Eagle Ridge’s resident ice princess – tiara included!

My favorite Carnival activity? Trying a “Marshmallow Shot,” a giant roasted marshmallow filled with Baileys (or other libations) which we drank – and then ate!

The night ended with “Fire and Ice” selfie moments inside a hot air balloon where you could pull the lever that revs up the fire engine that powers these sky babies.

We also made our way back to Woodland’s restaurant for dinner, and enjoyed the steak buffet, with its own fixings bar.

Sunday morning means brunch! Eagle Ridge offers up a filling meal with its omelet station. And a mimosa bar – the perfect way to start the trek back to O’Hare.

For golf lovers, Eagle Ridge has four courses that makes it the place to be in the warmer months.

It’s also home to Woodstone Restaurant, with magnificent panoramic views and wood-fired pizzas. It will reopen in the spring.
