Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness and Other Socially Conscious Events With The DivaGals!By Delaina Dixon, Maureen Martin | October 23, 2017 | Gals On The Town
It’s Breast Cancer Awareness month and the DivaGals are supporting the cause!
Last week, we attended the fifth annual Kicked It In Heels fundraising soiree, hosted by our own Diva, Dr. Janna Andrews. The event keeps growing bigger and bigger – this year Kicked It took over the dining area at chic NYC restaurant Beautique for the night’s festivities. Janna’s mission is to ensure that young women and women of color have the same access to care as their peers to raise the success rate of beating breast cancer in women of color. This year’s event honored two survivors: Executive vice president and COO of NewYork-Presbyterian Dr. Laura Forese and media executive/community activist Keisha Sutton-James. We were so proud when Janna addressed healthcare disparities among women of color and the importance of early detection.
We also enjoyed the very classy evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and music spun by DJ D-Nice. There was also an exclusive gift bag given.
It’s never too late to support the cause. Make your donation at kickeditinheels.com!
Why not beat cancer with a little music and mediation? DivaGals Delaina and Wendy got our zen on at Crunch Goes Pink, Crunch Gym‘s ultra-cool charitable event to support the Breast Research Cancer Foundation. The morning was filled with classes of yoga and cardio mash-ups like Global Grooves and Zumba.
There were a ton of sponsors on hand giving out goodies – we’re loving our Fabulous Foaming Face Wash from Bliss and samples from Fresh Skincare. There was also an awesome giveaway with a ton of goodies, from movie and sports game tickets to fitness apparel and equipment. Shaking and making moves all for a good cause? We loved it!
Make sure to support causes close to your heart. We attended the Sophie Bonvin (pictured above) and Bill Claps launch of the exclusive CODE COLLECTION created by artist Bill Claps. A percentage of the sale of this gorgeous limited edition luxury handbag collection goes to charity.
These gorgeous handbags are made from materials that include python and have gorgeous metallic finishes that we absolutely love!
We all know someone suffering from Lyme disease so give, give, give! The GLOBAL LYME ALLIANCE of New York City is dedicated to finding a cure and educating physicians. Their NEW YORK CITY GALA 2017 honored designer Joseph Abboud, Marisol Thomas (Rob Thomas’ wife) a philanthropist and animal rights advocate, with Larry Scott of Lawrence Scott Events and performances by Chris DaughtryRob Thomas.
