TV DIVAGAL: My “Date” With Glee Project Winner Blake Jenner!
Last week, Blake Jenner won the second season of The Glee Project, snagging a coveted seven-episode arc on the series upcoming forth season.
While we’re pretty certain what kind of character he’ll play (Finn has graduated after all!), what TV DivaGal really wanted to know is if The Glee Project‘s actability challenge – the movie trailer “Perfect” – will be made into a real full-length feature. And that’s when things really got interesting.
GAL APPROVED Weekend: Return to Jersey; Glam, Healthy Hair & Graphic Leggings!
WATCH. The DivaGals loved getting our glam on at the Jerseylicious launch of haircare products from The Gatsby Salon owner Gayle Giacomo. So we’ll definitely be watching Jerseylicious: The Reunion Special, part 1 this weekend. We hear that Tracy and Olivia’s boyfriends get into a major fight that shakes up the ladies. Honeys, you should know that men should never come between friendships – or hairstyles! Catch the special Sunday, Aug 19 at 8 p.m. on Style.
TV UPFRONTS 2012: FOX’s Fall TV Shows to Watch!
It was a double bill Monday as the DivaGals hit the Fox Upfront 2012, where we enjoyed a rousing performance by Ms. Mary J. Blige (a Diva in her own right!). But what really wanted to see was Fox’s offering of new shows. Here are the ones we definitely recommend checking out this fall.
Ben & Kate
WHAT IT’S ABOUT. Younger sister Kate may have always been the responsible one, but big bro Ben will finally step into his namesake when he moves in to help her raise her five-year-old daughter. Maybe.
WHY YOU’LL WATCH. Sibling stories are always hard to resist, especially when it’s this poignant and sincere. Nat Faxon, the brilliant screenwriter behind the Academy Award-winning The Descendents, plays just the right amount of naïve energy that will make us all wish we had a brother like that.
TV UPFRONTS 2012: NBC’s TV Shows to Watch!
NBC kicked off Upfronts this week presenting a boatload of new shows. Here are the ones we know you’ll want to watch this fall!
The New Normal (Tuesdays, 9:30 p.m.).
WHAT IT’S ABOUT. A gay couple desperate for a baby; their outspoken personal assistant who will be breaking out quotable one liners (yes, she is played by reality star-turned-legit actress NeNe Leakes); and one very sweet surrogate, who comes with a too cute preteen daughter and not so politically correct mother.
WHY YOU’LL WATCH. You’ll be all over this family unit from Glee creator Ryan Murphy, who always manages to brings topical issues to the forefront and make them irresistable to watch. NBC is calling this new sitcom “a post-modern family.” We’re calling it sincerely funny.
TV Shows To Watch Tonight: Project Runway & Vampire Diaries
TV DivaGal knows where she’ll be tonight: curled up on the couch watching two of my favorite shows: Project Runway and Vampire Diaries!
On Vampire Diaries, vampire/werewolf hybrid Klaus wants his family back (even if they are all in coffins), and he’ll destroy pretty much everyone to make that happen. I got to be honest; I’m growing kind of weary of Klaus. There’s just no other side to him; it’s all darkness, which makes him kind of a hard character to grasp onto for such a long time (yes, I know he cared about his sister, Rebecca, but even she admitted that he’s been a total douche over the centuries). Vampire Diaries airs Thursday, Jan 5. at 8 p.m. on The CW.
Project Runway All Stars. Yes, it’s the competition PR fans have been waiting for: the return of all our fave designers who were eliminated during their past seasons are back to claim top prize.
TV SHOW TO WATCH This Fall: DWTS, The Sing-Off & CBS’ Double Twos!
TV is back in session full force! The DivaGals have combed through this season’s lineup to bring you all the shows you should be watching this week. Check in daily and rev up the DVR! Here’s what you can’t miss tonight!
Dancing With the Stars. Ricki? Chaz? Nancy Grace? This year’s lineup is sure to offer up performances that are interesting, if not entertaining. This year, the show will have a new armchair judge, our guest contributor Chris Mooney. His credentials? “I saw Kelly Monaco’s wardrobe malfunction, and I love Kim Kardashian, but I didn’t start tuning in faithfully until my childhood crush, the ultimate showgirl, Marie Osmond, joined the show in Season Five. I personally think Marie should have won that season. She was amazing! I was lucky enough to attend the show live on my 40th birthday (Season 10, episode 4) – and we (me, my mom and sister) got to witness Kate Gosselin‘s tragic Paso Doble … I wish Kirstie Alley won last season!” Our own Dancin’Boy will be critiquing the show every week, so tune in! DWTS premieres at 8 p.m. on ABC.
The Sing-Off. TV DivaGal loves a singing show, especially when there’s no band to back you up. The Sing-Off, back for its third run, has added a new judge, singer Sara Bareilles, and a season worth of episodes. And while I’ll love all the contestants who will sing their hearts out, the real reason to tune in is to see musician Ben Folds give his dead-on spot critiques. The Sing-Off premieres at 8 p.m. on NBC.
2 Broke Girls. Wanna see how single ladies really live in the Big Apple? Then catch CBS’ newest comedy. These gals, one fallen from the Upper East Side, and one from around the way, try to make ends meet as diner waitresses. “There’s rarely any sitcoms where they actually say how much something costs, including rent … The idea is that we would actually have people deal with rent and numbers,” says executive producer (and SATC scribe!) Michael Patrick King. Spoiler Alert: We know where the gals will be shopping in next week’s episode – and no, it’s NOT Bendels! 2 Broke Girls premieres at 9:30 p.m. on CBS. Make sure you tune in 30 minutes early to catch Ashton Kutcher make his debut on Two and a Half Men.
