Visit Rome Right In NYC via Mozzarella And Vino – A Dining Experience!By Maureen Martin | September 5, 2017 | Travel
Sadly summer 2017 is almost over and we didn’t have our Roman holiday in Montepulciano, Vatican City or Milan, so instead we saved a few thousand dollars and dined locally in our hometown of New York City.
Mozzarella & Vino is a great option for authentic Italian cuisine, and it’s conveniently located midtown away from the tourist and theater crowds. It’s the perfect place for a grown up dinner out. The menu goes from light fair to entrees, perfect if you are seriously hungry or if just want to nibble and enjoy fine Italian wines.
For carnivores, there are meats and cheeses from a charcuterie board of two, three or four items, which include the velvety, dry-cured prosciutto cotto and Buffalo ricotta with chestnut honey, which is “light yet rich.”
Our dinner started with an Insalata of shrimp, mussels and calamari and the warm Farro. Farro is the new “quinoa,” it’s packed with fiber and very nutritious. For dinner we enjoyed oven roasted Scottish salmon and the homemade ravioli-of-the-day, both perfectly cooked, fresh, delicious and “light” for typically heavy Italian fair.
Dessert was the perfect creamy dreamy vanilla panna cotta with fresh berries. Our meal was paired with a divine medium dry Italian wine “Barbaresco.”
