Younger’s Nico Tortorella On How To Date An Older Woman!

What’s the best part of pretending to be 26 when you’re 40? Having a 26-year-old boyfriend! So it goes in the new series Younger, premiering on TV Land tonight!

Liza is a divorced mom who returns to work after pretending to be in her twenties. Dating an older woman is old territory for series co-star Nico Tortotella, who plays Liza’s lover Josh. The actor admits he’s been involved with more mature gals pretty much all his life.

“When I was 19 years old, I was in a relationship for a couple years with a woman who was 13 years older than I was,” he declares. “I’ve had shorter relationships with women older than that ΓǪ I just get along better with people who are more experienced.”

The key to having a successful relationship with an older woman is that “you have to take control and own the situation,” Nico explains. “Not if you’re looking for a sugar mama or daddy. But if you’re looking for a serious relationship, you have to throw all age aside and be equals.”

Which is exactly what Nico had to do when he and series co-star Sutton Foster shot their first love scene. “Sutton had never had a sex scene on camera before,” he shares. “I picked this super sweet Dave Matthews Band song, “Dreamgirl,” and I didn’t tell her that I was going to play it. It was first thing in the morning and we probably shot for five hours. I kept it silly and fun to make Sutton feel comfortable. She was definitely a little bit nervous, but we have so much chemistry outside of work, we knew ‘we got this.'”

And now Nico’s got us!

Catch the series premiere of Younger (and back-to-back episodes) on Tuesday, March 31 at 10 p.m. on TVLand.
