The Lord of The Rings’ Andy Serkis and Elijah Wood Talk Dad Stuff And More At Dragon Con 2023

The Lord of the Rings is a global phenomenon that ascends race, creed and color. So we don’t mind that Geek Gal Caroline Cao got to dig deeper into the hit film franchise at Dragon Con and hear from two of its stars.

On September 3, I attended a panel of two Lord of the Rings alumni. First, there was Frodo, played by actor Elijah Wood, and then Gollum, played by Andy Serkis, who is of Armenian descent.

Honoring the SAG-AFTRA strike, they didn’t discuss their future projects or history with Lord of the Rings. But they had plenty to spill about their lives, much to the joyous cheers and awwws from their fans. Here are some of the highlights.

Serkis is very supportive of his kids being actors. His 8-year-old daughter told him, “I want to be other people and go forwards and backward in time.” He wishes he could return to the day his first daughter was born because he wants to remember how she burst out of her mother’s womb. If there’s a project he covets, Serkis wants to do anything The Phantom Tollbooth. Cue cheers.

For those who already don’t know, Wood had a small part in Back to the Future: Part II. If he could go back in time, Wood wishes he could “answer e-mails better” to maintain his career connections. Also, “learn a f@#king [new] language. Wood is a fan of the sci-fi film Primer.

Conclusion: These two #WBWD are cool dads.
