Ariana Grande’s Hot Broadway Role After Hairspray Live! (DivaGals Exclusive!)

We’re only a week away from NBC’s production of Hairspray Live! and we can hardly wait! TV DivaGal visited the L.A. set and got the chance to chat with Ariana Grande. The pop sensation, who plays Penny Pingleton in this production, couldn’t stop crying over how excited she is to be in this once-in-a-lifetime Hairspray experience.

“It’s something that brought me so much joy as a young girl,” she shared. “Penny is such a dream role for me.” Ariana revealed that she had donated to “Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS” to meet Broadway legend Kristin Chenoweth 13 years ago, and now Kristin is starring with her in NBC’s live broadcast.

Now here’s an exclusive tidbit you won’t want to miss. Ariana first appeared on Broadway in the musical 13, and Kristin is eager to get the pop goddess back on the Broadway stage. “I’m going make her do something, if I have to produce it myself,” Kristin declared.

Being the smart, savvy Divas that we are, we had a suggestion. “How about Gypsy?” with Grande as Gypsy Rose Lee and Chenoweth as her mama. Both ladies agreed wholeheartedly and started talking about how they could bring it to the stage.

Now we’re not trying to take all the credit, but when Gypsy comes back to the Great White Way in 2018, remember where you heard it first!
