ART BASEL 2019 – Kaos Garden, The Fontainbleu and That Darn Banana!By Delaina Dixon | December 16, 2019 | Travel
TV DivaGal hopped a plane to Miami to join our Image Gal and 90 Days to Husband #2 guru Samantha Bessudo Drucker for Art Basel 2019. Yep, it was five days of sun, raves and bananas!
Being inside the official Art Basel exhibition at Miami Convention Center meant art at every angle, including the controversial “Duct Tape Banana” that sold for $120K. While TV DivaGal didn’t get that selfie, she did get a shot with this fun dude.
At Fontainbleau Miami Beach, we got to see more than just art. The hotel is celebrating the third season of Amazon Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel; several scenes were shot at the hotel. Lovely ladies dressed in pink handed out complimentary cookies and Rosé, and it was delicious.
One of the most exciting parties going down was elrow’Art Presents “Kaos Garden.” Making its U.S. debut, more than 1000 people arrived — in various states of undress — for this immersive odyssey inside in a custom-built structure at Island Gardens.
Curated by artist Okuda San Miguel and DJ/producer Paco Osuna, this dynamic team served up their interpretation of Bosch’s painting “The Garden of Earthly Delights.” That meant an explosion of color on dancers and stilt walkers who performed throughout the night as electronic music pulsated all night long. Fashion brand Desigual and art collective Ink and Movement were part of the elrow’Art experience, which invited attendees to play, feel and participate in the music and art happening all around us. Image Gal says, “the event was colorful and fun. It was like dancing inside of a psychedelic kaleidoscope.”
Before the rave festivities, we had a cocktail at The Deck at Island Gardens. This Miami waterfront restaurant and lounge is classy and chic, offering up full-size dining tables and waterfront cabana lounges. Of course, you can arrive by land or by sea, just pull up in your yacht to dock and dine.
Until Art Basel 2020!
