It’s been an interesting first week. I’ll confess, I started my Best Body Ever 30-Day challenge a day before the actual start date June 1.
I took a Spin class AND Athletic Conditioning with Sean at Mercedes Club NY. So by the next day, I was truly feeling it. But I pushed through and did a run and my strength training. One of the biggest keys to losing the excess pounds is increasing muscle mass so your body is burning more calories over a regular basis. Over the next few days, there was more athletic conditioning, spin classes, ellipticals, weight training and half of this Pilates sculpting program from FitSugar that kicks my butt every time.
But no amount of working out is going to affect my body without major changes in diet. And there are so many choices out there: should I be doing high fiber? Paleo? Intermittent fasting? It’s impossible to know what’s right unless you do some major trial and error which could take weeks — and I only have 30 days!
That’s why I’m turning to NY Health and Wellness nutrition director Jacqui Justice, who helps her clients create the ideal eating program for optimal health. Jacqui already gave some advice for detoxing the system to our pals at ThirdAge.com. I can’t wait to share her findings for me with you next week!
In addition, I’m sending a DNA sample to InherentHealth.com, which will study my genetic makeup to get my heart to optimal health — fancy science stuff.
In the end, I just want to be doing what’s best for my body and define a plan I can live with for the rest of my life. Nothing too complicated!
