If You & Your Boo Can Survive These, He’s A Keeper!

Relationships have to be able to withstand stormy weather. ThatΓÇÖs why we use the term ΓÇ£partnerΓÇ¥ for our boyfriends and husbands; theyΓÇÖre meant to be there to help us weather the storm, standing by our side through thick and thin.
There are plenty of classic signs that your boyfriend is the one,┬ábut there are a few life scenarios that push relationships to the limit– and as a result, can tell you a lot about your relationship. If you and your boyfriend have managed to navigate the following trials and come through them without a scratch, then thereΓÇÖs a great chance what you have together is built to last.
Your First Big Fight
You know that big fight – the kind of argument that takes days to recover from? When it happens, it can feel like the world is ending. It doesnΓÇÖt matter what you have been fighting about; the fact that the argument has happened at all can be incredibly depressing.┬áHowever, if you manage to get through the kind of fight that takes a couple of days to cool down from, then itΓÇÖs a sign your relationship is on solid ground. All couples fight; itΓÇÖs entirely natural, even those big blowouts where you both shout until you canΓÇÖt quite remember why you were fighting in the first place. ItΓÇÖs how you bounce back from them that counts.
A Change Of Future Plans
So you’ve been working for a job for a while, and decide it’s time to quit to pursue your life as a fulltime blogger (don’t we know it!), your boyfriend should be there for you every step of the way. This applies to almost any life scenario; from something relatively simple such as changing jobs, or opening your own business rather than commuting to an office, or more specific, such as wanting to expand your career by undertaking a Masters in Engineering Management online so you can explore STEM opportunities for your future (hey, we did say SPECIFIC!). If itΓÇÖs a big, material change, itΓÇÖs going to be a testing time for your relationship. How your boyfriend supports you through this period is essential. That doesnΓÇÖt mean they have to cheerlead you every step of the way; but if they raise objections, they have to be rational and reasonable. If your boyfriend is supportive and encouraging — even if it means paying your half of the rent while you study or establish your business — then thatΓÇÖs a great sign.
A Health Crisis
This is an area youΓÇÖre not going to want your relationship to be tested, but it can have a hidden upside if you have to endure a health crisis. We know a guy who was on vacation with his wife of four years at the time, and she was rushed to the emergency room (in a foreign country no less!). There they were given the news that she couldn’t have children. He admits the information hit him like a ton of bricks. But he knew that she was the love of his life, and would be by her side – no matter what.┬áIf heΓÇÖs there for you, supports what youΓÇÖre going through, and knows just how to make you feel better on your darkest days, then itΓÇÖs fair to conclude heΓÇÖs in it for the long haul– and youΓÇÖd be smart to hold onto him.
