Channing Tatum Tugs on Our Heartstrings in New Trailer for Josephine
By Elizabeth Paige Richardson | October 14, 2026 | Celebrity & Culture
Channing Tatum has proudly worn many hats throughout his career as a leading man: a charmingly funny officer in 21 Jump Street, a heartthrob wooing the girl and the audience in Dear John, and we don’t have to explain the appeal of Magic Mike. The actor clearly isn’t afraid of a challenge, and in November he’s due to pull off his most heartstring-tugging role yet in Sumerian Pictures’ Josephine.
The new trailer for the highly anticipated drama casts the spotlight on a family in crisis, with Tatum and Gemma Chan playing off each other’s intensity. The two portray parents trying to stay united as they help their eight-year-old child (Mason Reeves) work through the trauma of witnessing a brutal crime in Golden Gate Park.
If you’re waiting to hear the critics’ score, they’ve already given the film an A+ for director Beth de Araújo’s unflinching look at family and fighting for justice and protection in an unjust world. Josephine has made a splash on the indie film circuit and took home two of the top prizes from this year’s Sundance Film Festival for gripping judges and audiences alike.
If you need any more reason to get excited, extra praise has poured in for the performances of the actors. The Toronto Star highlighted Tatum’s performance as a “career-best,” and Chan’s heart-wrenching performance has been lauded as remarkable. USA Today also declared Reeves delivered “one of the great child performances of the decade.” Watch the new trailer below!
