We had the most divine and delicious date night at Michelin-recognized Hortus NYC this weekend, and let me tell you, it was an absolute symphony for the senses! If you’re looking for an evening that whispers “chic” and screams “delicious,” this is your spot. Hortus is located in the NoMad district of New York City.
“NoMad (“North of Madison Square Park”), also known as Madison Square North, is a neighborhood centered on the Madison Square North Historic District in the borough of Manhattan in New York City.
The name NoMad, which has been in use since 1999, is derived from the area’s location north of Madison Square Park. The neighborhood is bordered by East 25th Street to the south, East 29th or East 30th Street to the north, Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) to the west, and Madison or Lexington Avenue to the east.”
We started the evening with a celebratory Cremant Brut, its delicate bubbles setting the perfect tone. Then, things got *really* interesting with their Soju-based cocktails. Mine was a revelation – vibrant, unexpected, and utterly delightful. It perfectly complemented the parade of exquisite starters. We indulged in the freshest Oysters, delicate ceviche, and an Asian Caesar Salad that was a lovely twist on a classic. The Tempura Trio was my absolute favorite! It was light, crisp perfection.
For our second act, the Clam Chowder Pasta was an unexpected triumph – creamy, rich, and utterly comforting. The Korean Smoked Pasta offered a smoky, savory depth.
By the third course, we were in culinary heaven. The Ribeye was cooked to perfection. My date and I adored the duck, which was a rich, flavorful masterpiece.
