DivaGalsDaily guest contributor Valerie Greenberg recounts her Oscar Night at W New York – Union Square.
Sunday night I was lucky enough to attend a viewing party for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards at W New York hotel in Union Square with resident DivaGals, TV DivaGal and Luxe Gal.
Hosted by Refinery29.com, the hotel’s mezzanine had been transformed into a luxurious viewing arena, complete with plush white banquet seating to watch the live broadcast projected onto two huge wall panels.
Upon my arrival, the dedicated wait staff repeatedly served me delicious appetizers of chorizo corndogs, mini burgers and mac and cheese balls (my fave!), just to name a few. My favorite cocktail of the evening was “The Black Swan” – a mix of Belvedere vodka, black raspberry and simple syrup — which I complemented with a rock candy stirrer offered at the fully stocked candy bar.
But the show wasn’t the only entertainment. From COVERGIRL mini-makeovers to Parsons The New School For Design students sketching cartoon caricatures, the night was filled with fashionable festivities and well-dressed guests.
The party was complete with a style panel hosted by Refinery 29 New York editor Kristian Laliberte. As for the show, Hollywood’s A-listers graced the red carpet looking gorgeous. Gwyneth Paltrow‘s golden gown deserved the best-dressed award in my book. And W New York ΓÇô Union Square was the perfect swanky venue to view Natalie Portman accept her first Best Actress Oscar for Black Swan.
Congratulations to all the noms and winners.
