It was a historic win for Viola Davis┬áat the Emmy’s last night! The “How to Get Away With Murder” star won an Emmy last night for her performance on the show, making her the first black woman to win an award for outstanding actress in a drama series. She also gave an awe-inspiring speech, saying “The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity. You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there. So here’s to all the writers who have redefined what it means to be beautiful, to be sexy, to be leading women, and to be black.”
Viola Davis wasn’t the only winner last night. Regina King and Uzo Aduba also took home Emmy’s last night. Uzo Aduba won for best supporting actress in “Orange is the New Black”. Regina King won her first Emmy for her performance in the show “American Crime”. Congratulations to these lovely ladies! Get it divas!
Singer Kelis wrote her first cookbook! After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu culinary school, opening up a food truck, and developing her own line of spices, the former singer took things a step further by publishing her own cookbook called “My Life on a Plate”. The cookbook comes out on September 28th.
Kylie Jenner was attacked by a fan this weekend! While she was leaving a Chris Brown and Tyga concert on Friday, the reality star was assaulted as she pushed through the crowd. A fan pulled her long, green tresses, causing her head to yank backward. Luckily her bodyguards stepped in and saved the day!
We’re totally obsessing over this commercial for Apple Music, starring Mary J. Blige, Taraji P. Henson, and Kerry Washington! The commercial debuted during the Emmy’s last night and shows the three bff’s hanging out at Mary J. Blige’s house, jamming to some music. Director Ava DuVernay informed viewers that this is the first of three commercials to be aired!
