DIVA CHAT Broadway Beauty Montego Glover Drops Her Beauty Secrets!By Delaina Dixon | December 5, 2014 | Entertainment
At the T.J. Martell Foundation World Tour of Wine benefit at Capitale in New York City on Nov. 20, TV DivaGal got to chatting with Broadway Beauty Montego Glover. She originated a lead role in the musical Memphis. Or maybe you caught her on NBC’s Smash or ABC’s Black Box.
The Southern native gave me the skinny on her latest projects, her style and beauty secrets and the musical movie she’d love to star in (besides Memphis!). Check out our convo below!
We’re at the T.J. Martell Foundation World Tour of Wine benefit ΓÇô what’s your favorite type of wine?
I tend to like my Spanish reds. They’re always delightful and never disappoint, yummy! I love Rioja.
What was your last project?
I just finished a beautiful play at The Old Globe theater in San Diego called The Royale. It’s about boxing and set in 1910. There are four men and one girl; guess who the girl was, just guess (Laughs). That’s four straight good-looking men and me. It was a spectacular experience. I’m based in New York so when I get to pop over to the west coast and do a little running around in Southern California it’s always fun.
What musical movie would you like to star in?
I would do this on screen and in the theater. I’d love play Dot in Sunday In the Park With George.
What’s your personal style?
I really am lucky because I pretty much get to have it both ways. I do a lot of glamorous things like the Tony Awards and premieres and concerts; I get to stand in front of 45-piece orchestras in beautiful gowns and sing songs. My style is right parts relaxed woman – jeans and tops – and right parts totally glam, snatched. My favorite gowns come from Max Azria.
Your have the best skin — we have to know your secret!
I have an inside-outside approach. I’m a big believer in sleep ΓÇô I’m an eight-hour-a-night girl. I don’t mess around. I hydrate. I stopped drinking soda over 20 years ago. You can’t have all that sugary stuff in your body, it shows up on you. I get the right amount of sun. It might sound crazy, but you’d be surprised how many people are vitamin D deficient ΓÇô especially black women. And then there’s nutrition. I shop at the Farmer’s Market only and eat something. I’m from the South, and food is your friend.
Any fave facial products?
People are surprised to hear I wash my face with baby shampoo. I’ve used it for years. You can open your eyes and really get your eye makeup off. If I’m doing my budgeting, then it’s Johnson & Johnson, but if I’m feeling fancy, it’s Aveeno!
