What To Watch This Weekend: To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before on Netflix!By Delaina Dixon | August 17, 2018 | Gal Approved
WATCH. Netflix’s newest teen romcom To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is definitely more rom than com, and we can dig it. It’s the story of Lara Jean, a romance lit reading, Korean-American 16 year old who has penned letters to five of her childhood crushes, which she keeps addressed and stashed in a bow-tied container. That includes best childhood pal Josh, who has been dating her older sister (Lara Jean just dealt with it!). The letters get mysteriously mailed, and Lara Jean panics. She can’t let Josh – her older sis’ ex – believe she’s in love with him.
So Lara partners with another letter receiver, Peter, who has just broken up with Lara’s former BFF Jen. The two agree to be a fake couple to throw Josh off the path/make Jen jealous. You can only imagine what happens as the two work overtime convince the whole school they are legit.
Lara and Peter’s blossoming romance is certainly cute, if not a little slow to unfold. Of course, there’s a confrontation, some sage family advice, a slightly expected twist and an adorable ending that make for a pleasant night of wine, chips and a trip back to the days when you filled your journal or Instastory with hearts and emojis over your first (or five!) crush.
