Divalicious Review! The Alien and Ghost Invasion of Rom-Com Porportions: DanDaDan at Anime NYC

Girl meets boy and boy meets girl. Girl believes in ghosts, but not aliens. Boy believes in aliens, but not ghosts. Girl gets abducted by aliens. Boy gets abducted by ghosts. They save each other.
It’s the equation for a teen love story of epic proportions. And what other animation studio can cinch Yukinobu Tatsu’s ludicrous manga than the experimental Science SARU?
At Anime NYC, the leading English voice actors, Abby Trott and A.J. Beckles, and the Japanese voice actors, Natsuki Hanae and Shion Wakayama paid a visit to hundreds of fans at the premiere Dan Da Dan panel. They were also joined by the series composer kensuke ushio.
Fūga Yamashiro is the series director. The first episode follows the meet-cute: the abrasive ghost-believing Momo meets the bullied Okarun, an alien fanboy. I can say it is an awesome premiere, with Science SARU colors mixing in the perverse comic and the ghastly, with heartwarming character development that binds Momo and Okarun together in a will-they-won’t-they relationship (in the most hilarious way possible, too).
The first three episodes will drop into theaters on September 13 through 15 before its official streaming drop on Netflix on October 3 for a weekly release.
