Entertainment Gal: Baggage Claim’s Boris Kodjoe – How His Marriage Thrives!
By DIVAGALS | September 19, 2013 | Entertainment, Gals On The TownWe’re not sure how Entertainment Gal got through her one-on-one interview with hunky Boris Kodjoe, who stars in the new romantic comedy Baggage Claim, but we were certainly eager to get the deets!
Read on to find out about how Boris and wife Nicole Ari Parker thrive in their eight-year marriage, on being a role model to his kids and, of course, what he thinks makes a woman sexy!
Why he did this film. I wanted to work with [writer and director] David E. Talbert, Paula Patton and Jill Scott. The script was well written, and it’s a very worthwhile picture.
Why his marriage to Nicole thrives. You have to make each other priority. Because when you do that, you’re saying yes to the only source of true joy and happiness that’s completely unconditional, and not dependent on a producer giving you a part, or a casting director choosing you, or anything like that. That’s where I get my strength from and my empowerment from and my spirit and my love. When you do that, when you set priorities that way, you’ll be happy. Everything else falls into place. I make sure that Nicole and I are great, that we adore each other and spend time together. We laugh together, and everything else is a piece of cake.
On being a role model to his six-year-old son Nicolas. He watches me and is informed on how I do things. He watches how I speak to his mother, how I speak to his sister; how I carry myself, how I sit down and eat. He watches and copies me, and I’m aware of that. I take that very seriously.
What he finds sexy in a woman. Confidence. I couldn’t be with a woman who isn’t confident. That means being comfortable in your own skin. Having the awareness and notion that you belong no matter where you are. That you know who you are and where you’re going. Because that means you can make fun of yourself, you can be hilarious and sarcastic. You can have discussions or arguments with anybody, without feeling slighted or insecure. And that’s very sexy.
Well put, BorisΓǪ and we’re sure Nicole loves it!
Baggage Claim opens nationally on Sept. 27. Tune in next week for more exclusives with the cast!
