Flamin’ Hot Is A Hilarious True Story
Ever wondered how FLAMIN’ HOT® Cheetos came to be? The new film Flamin’ Hot—now streaming—tells the story of Richard Montañez, portrayed by Jesse Garcia, a Frito Lay janitor who channeled his Mexican heritage into the Flaming Hot taste-bud-blowing recipe. Eva Longoria makes her directorial debut in this rags-to-riches story, which is produced by DeVon Franklin. “She’s just an incredible filmmaker, an incredible person and an amazing friend,” says Franklin, who was a support system for Longoria. “The movie that you see, is everything that she said she wanted to do.” That includes the very comical take on milestones in Montañez’s life.
“That was really Eva’s invention,” Franklin declares. “She came up with the idea that the whole movie needed to be done from Richard’s point of view. Once that was decided, things like those boardroom scenes were the ability to get into Richard’s head and have fun.”
