The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development hosted a fun two-day immersion in Tennessee whiskey and cuisine, and it was delicious!
In partnership with Lodge Cast Iron, we spent an afternoon at the International Culinary Center in Battery Park, N.Y. We had so much fun at our hands-on cooking experience led by Lodge Cast Iron chef Kris Stubblefield.
We made surf and turf! There was steak with a secret whisky sauce, shrimp sauteed in a similar sauce and, for a vegetarian option, a surprisingly delicious oyster mushroom. Once plated, we had a golden bowl of grits as a side dish.

At the Tennessee Whiskey Notes Happy Hour, we tasted authentic whiskey and bourbons from Sugarlands Distilling Company, Old Dominick Distillery and Company Distilling. We got schooled on preparing our tastebuds for the strongest proof (swill a small amount inside the mouth, teeth and gums before drinking!).
