All this week, Fashion Gal brings you hot holiday gift items that every fashionista has to add to her collection.
The holiday season is all about reconnecting with your roots, which is the inspiration for The Amanne Collection, a stunning array of African-inspired jewelry from the collection’s founder, Maureen Martin.
A Cameroon, West Africa native, Maureen, who now lives in New York City, found a creative way to bring a piece of her culture stateside. She took classic Ghanian symbols, each representing a state of being, and updated them into wearable art.
“I wanted to take these timeless pieces and give them a contemporary feel that was beautiful and classy to appeal to a wide audience,” she tells the Fashion Gal.
The elegant line of charms, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and anklets are sold exclusively on the company’s website and range in price from $15 to $175.
It’s a look that can fit into every fashionista’s budget. “My favorite is the new Sankofa necklace,” says Maureen, which retails for $40.
The site also features Coptic crosses from Ethiopia. “Billy Ray Cyrus owns one,” Maureen spills.
