Fashion Gal's Model Moment: The Boyfriend Shirt for SEW
By Delaina Dixon | July 1, 2009 | EntertainmentFashion Gal loves working an angle!
That’s why she jumped at the chance to be in front of the camera to model The Boyfriend Shirt for SEW inside The Eldridge, a modern day speak-easy on the Lower East Side.
Along with several other fashion bloggers, Fashion Gal was challenged to rock my two-ply Italian cotton, Mother of Pearl button-front shirt with my own sense of style. No problem!
Fashion Gal arrived at the locale around noon to platters of tuna tartar and wine. I don’t know about other models, but this tiny gal likes to eat!
At first, Fashion Gal was gonna rock a pencil skirt.
But with a little persuasion from TV style expert and The Boyfriend Shirt for SEW spokesperson Jess Zaino, I paired my white button down, also known as the David, with City of Others jeans, hot pink stilettos by Spanish designer Magrit, a Cheetah print bag by Santi (thanks, Rebecca!), a Forever 21 steal of a ring.
My best accessory? A back and gold two-strand necklace from the best fashion spot in Newark, N.J., my Nana’s jewelry box!
First was the group shot. I got to stand near 5’10 sexpot Andrea Grant, author of The Pin-up Poet, who rocked her Boyfriend Shirt in a corset and garter, and little else!
Then it was time for individual shots. After a quick touch-up from makeup artist (and fellow A.K.A. Soror) Rukiya Jeffers, I hit my mark.
“Turn to the light,” photographer David Leeds instructed.
Okay, sure… I did my best to channel my inner Tyra Banks and smile with eyes, all the while sucking in, well, everything.
Luckily, The Boyfriend Shirt for SEW, created by Scott Evan Wasserberger, with its tapered waist did most of the work!
The Boyfriend Shirt feels like you swiped it from your man, but with its scaled down details, it fit me just right.
After a rapid fire of turns, twists and smiles in front of the camera, I was done.
And here’s the results.
Seeing me in this might convince Mr. Right to come and invade my closet!
