Find A Husband In 90 Days #QuarantineEdition – How To Write A Profile That Gets You Noticed!By Delaina Dixon | June 11, 2020 | Relationships
Hello Divas! It’s been two weeks since I started my journey to find love during a pandemic. I had to take a step back after the tragic death of George Floyd and the nation’s passionate reaction for change in America. Maybe if there’s more love in the world, people of all different colors and races can finally get along. And with that… I’m back on the search!
So the first thing I had to do to start my journey was to post a profile. This may be one of the hardest parts of going online. What do you say about yourself to stand out from the crowd?
I turned once again to Christelyn Karazin, love ambassador at InterracialDatingCentral. She has a course on her site Beyond Black & White that helps women find their soulmate. I listened to a podcast featuring Damona Hoffman, a leading online dating expert and love coach who shared some of her biggest tips in crafting a profile. Here are her top three:
Don’t List Your Don’t’s. When you’ve been looking for a man for a while, it’s pretty easy to rattle off what you don’t want. But that can be a total turn-off. List your favorite activities and passions and let him know you’re looking for a partner to share in those endeavors.
Use Action Photos. A picture tells 1000 words. You can tell stories through your photos that grab attention right away and give people a chance to ask “what’s that about?”
Contact Him! You worked hard on your profile, so show it off! While in traditional courting women may wait for potential suitors to make the first move, sending the first outgoing messages is a strategic move to reach quality men that you are drawn to. Make that first email flirty, funny and challenging – ask him a soft question that compels him to write back.
Taking good notes, I revamped my profile to lead with some of my favorite activities (boot camp classes, karaoke and a heavily stamped passport!). I added some photos that show me in action as well. I’ve already gotten quite a few people reaching out. I’ve written back to a handful of men, asking them a few questions about their lives, hobbies and fave #quarantinemeal. I’m looking forward to the responses I get.
Are you watching Labor of Love on FOX Network? It’s about a 41-year-old woman who’s looking not only for a husband but one who is ready to be a father! I spoke to one of the contestants, Budge Collinson, whose parents have been married for more than four decades! “My mother is always right,” Budge told me of his parent’s successful union. “There is good teamwork – they work together and are best friends as well partners.” I loved his line about good teamwork – so I added it to my profile! Watch Labor of Love Thursdays at 9 p.m. on FOX.
