DivaGals, you know we love a fabulous neighborhood transformation, especially when it happens right in our editor, aka Luxe Gal’s very own neighborhood! For years, 196 Eighth Avenue was home to Lasagna Ristorante, a cozy Chelsea staple where locals gathered for red-sauce comfort. But darling, turn the page, because Luxe Gal’s home turf on 20th Street just received a major glow-up. Enter Forno D’Oro, the chic new Italian hotspot bringing serious culinary drama and golden-hour vibes straight to her doorstep.
Step inside, and the nostalgic red-sauce energy is replaced by sophisticated warmth. Think plush seating, ambient lighting, and a gorgeous wood-fired oven glowing at the center of the room. It is the ultimate mix of upscale Italian dining and signature Chelsea glamour, perfect for a girls’ night out, a romantic date, or a pre-game dinner before hitting a show downtown.
Now let’s talk menu, because the culinary team is putting on a show! We kicked off our evening sipping bright Limoncello Spritzes alongside their silky Burrata served with fig marmalade, followed by crisp Arancini stuffed with saffron rice and mozzarella, floating on a pool of rich vodka sauce.

For the main event, pizza is non-negotiable here. The Inferno pie topped with San Marzano tomatoes, spicy ’Nduja, soppressata, and a drizzle of hot honey, hits every savory-sweet note with a blistered, airy crust that had us reaching for “just one more slice.” But the true head-turner? The tableside flaming Pecorino cheese wheel! Watching fresh pasta spun inside a roaring wheel of cheese right at your table brings all the theatrical luxury a Diva Gal could ask for.
And for those who miss the building’s roots? Don’t worry, they pay homage with their rich Mamma Lasagna, layered to absolute perfection.
Forno D’Oro isn’t just replacing a neighborhood classic; it is setting a gold standard for Italian dining in Chelsea. Grab your squad, book a table, and toast to Eighth Avenue’s newest crown jewel!
