GAL APPROVED Boots @ Style, Giving Sight & Spin, Sole & Sweat!
By The DivaGals | October 17, 2014 | Gal ApprovedSHOE. With our love for shoes, we believe the word can be a verb! We definitely felt the white “Heat” at the CAT Footwear Spring 2015 preview at their pop-up store on New York City’s East Side. While CAT maintains its origin as the premium workers’ boot, we spied styles we’d work on a catwalk any day, from buckled ankle boots and knee high boots with grommets to printed hightops! Want your own? Shop the pop-up store from Oct. 21 – 29 on the corner of Lexington Avenue and 47th Street. See more designs on our DivaGals FB page.
SEE. TV DivaGal admits, I never really thought much about Edward Snowden‘s side of the story when he was named as the whistleblower who revealed how the National Security Agency was scrutinizing our every technical move. I kind of thought, “If you’re going to break the law, stay stateside to accept your consequences.” The new documentary Citizen Four chronicles how Edward, who worked as a NSA intelligence analyst, revealed his findings to a Guardian journalist while hiding out in a hotel in Hong Kong, and shows just how much he actually feared for his life, his loved ones and those determined to tell his tale. While I still don’t personally agree with Edward’s decision to release information that was professionally sensitive, it did make me ponder: if I did want to fight for a national injustice ΓÇô say the killings of unarmed young black men by armed white officers ΓÇô would my email correspondences get me locked up in jail? Citizen Four, opening in limited release across the nation beginning Oct. 23.
SIGHT. We love a good cause. OneSight, the leading non-profit addressing the vision care crisis, doesn’t just collect old glasses for those in need. Executive Director Jason Singh shared with us at the “World Sight Day” campaign launch party, sponsored by RedLight PR, that the not-for-profit company actually creates stylish new pairs to donate around the globe, so cool! SWEAT. The DivaGals love to spin. We also love to boot camp. Put the two together, and we’re so there. That’s why we were up front and center at CYC Game Day inside The Ainsworth bar (yes, you read that right!) in New York City’s midtown, for a hybrid of CYC cycling and David Barton boot camp. Sweat, sculpt and a cocktail ΓÇô can it get any better?
SOLE. Run, run, run! It’s a great way to stay in shape ΓÇô but you gotta have the right shoes. We’re demanding the HOKA ONE ONE, which has 50 percent cushioning than other running shoes (a must when hitting NYC’s pavement), but is still lightweight enough not to weigh our fast feet down. And the bright colors make us smile while we sweat!
SPILL? Staying dry is liberating if you know you have a little discreet protection from spillage. Always offers all the protection you need from odor and wetness in an absorbent panty liner, as well as a full line of products that is as big or small as your protection needs. Lightweight, absorbent and discreet; you will dance for joy in skinny jeans without fear of detection! Marilu Henner showed us how to kick up our heels in celebration.
