GAL APPROVED: Chanel Omari On the Red Carpet With Hugh & Deborra-Lee JackmanBy DIVAGALS | December 9, 2013 | Dish!, Entertainment
Our new celebrity contributor, Chanel Omari, walks the red carpet with Hugh Jackman, and gives us all the scoop!
I had the privilege of attending the Change Begins Within fifth annual benefit gala, hosted by the David Lynch Foundation. The non-profit charity, which brings meditation to at-risk communities, celebrated the service of veterans and first responders in NYC. I had the honor to interview one of Hollywood’s greatest and most humble couples, award-winning actor Hugh Jackman and his beautiful wife, actress Deborra-Lee, who were both honorees at last night’s event, as well as FDNY Commissioner Salvatore Cassano.
The couple embraced the red carpet, and they were full of light and positivity all around. It was the first red carpet appearance Hugh has done since his skin cancer scare. Carpets can get busy, and sometimes celebrities brush right by you. But Hugh and Deborra were so incredible, they let me walk beside them as I peppered them questions.
“We feel honored to be a part of such a wonderful foundation that funds the Transcendental Meditation for at-risk populations such as under-served inner-city students and veterans with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and their families,” said Deborra. “There are women and girls who have been victims of violence, rape and abuse. These kids, families and veterans need our help to restore back their strength and overcome their struggles. we feel fortunate that we can help support this cause.”
It was amazing to see Hugh still so in love with his wife, as he didn’t leave her side the entire time and was gazing mostly into her eyes, even when asked questions by the press. It was so beautiful to see a Hollywood power couple still together and standing strong after all these years, so I couldn’t help myself and asked them how do they keep their marriage so hot and steamy. The charming as well as, charismatic couple laughed and responded “meditation, Chanel…it’s all about meditation.” You hear that, start practicing people!
The proceeds from the evening will help provide meditation training to 1,000 veterans and first responders in the city who suffer from post-traumatic stress. David Lynch shared, “I started Transcendental Meditation in 1973 and have not missed a single meditation ever since. Twice a day, every day. It has given me effortless access to unlimited reserves of energy, creativity and happiness deep within. This level of life is sometimes called ‘pure consciousness’ΓÇöit is a treasury. And this level of life is deep within us all.” Totally zen!
