WATCH: Fight Night on Peacock!
Who doesn’t love a ’70s series with all its fashion and afros? Yes, we can dig it!
Fight Night is based on a true story that became a podcast and was adapted into a TV series by filmmaker Shaye Ogbonna. Craig Brewer directs the series, which is based on an October 26, 1970, event in Atlanta, Georgia.
The series revolves around a heist during a historic boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Jerry Quarry, a fight significant for Atlanta’s evolution and the growing influence of the African American community internationally.
Kevin Hart portrays small-time hustler Gordon “Chicken Man” Williams, who had a vision to unite Atlanta’s most powerful Black criminals and businessmen. Taraji P. Henson plays Vivian Thomas, Chicken Man’s partner; Don Cheadle plays Atlanta’s first Black police officer, Detective J.D. Hudson; Samuel L. Jackson plays Frank Moten, a high-profile gangster; Terrence Howard plays Richard Wheeler, his henchman and Chloe Bailey plays Lena Mosley.
Fight Night is available to stream on Peacock. For photos from the NYC premiere, follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
