GIVE. We loved attending and covering New York City Mission Society‘s Annual ΓÇ£Champions for ChildrenΓÇ¥ benefit last year. So were more than thrilled to return for 2017! On April 5, 2017, Mission Society will honor legendary actress and singer Diahann Carroll. This legendary icon is an award-winning and trailblazing actress, successful entrepreneur and devoted humanitarian. One of AmericaΓÇÖs major performing talents, she has starred on stage, screen, and television. She’s won Tony and Golden Globe awards over her long and prestigious career and she┬ástill finds time to support causes dear to her heart. Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge will perform.The night’s benefit supports Mission SocietyΓÇÖs programs and services that help youth and families in New York cityΓÇÖs most underserved communities to break the cycle of poverty and achieve success. The Gala will once again be held at the Mandarin Oriental at 80 Columbus Circle in Manhattan, starting with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., followed by a program of dinner, music and dancing.
