GAL APPROVED Weekend! Scary Movie; Reality Double Take; Must-Have Summer Items and the Answer To Our Guess Who!By DIVAGALS | July 19, 2013 | Entertainment, Gal Approved
SEE. The Conjuring, a new movie about paranormal activity, scared us silly. We screamed and jumped in our seats. This is a good horror film that at times is shot like a documentary while telling the “true story” of a real life haunting and exorcism, and is directed by James Wan. Usually these low budget horrors are filled with non-recognized actors, but this scare fest stars a very talented cast that includes Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators who come to the assistance of the Perron family (Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor). The Perrons experienced increasingly disturbing events in their farmhouse in Harrisville, R.I., in the early 1970s. Paranormal investigators/husband and wife team Ed and Lorraine worked to help the family terrorized by a demonic presence left behind by the farmhouse’s previous owner. Forced to confront a powerful entity, the Warrens find themselves “caught in the most terrifying case of their own lives.” The DivaGals say see it, and check under your bed when you get home to make sure you didn’t bring home an “unwanted guest”!
WATCH. We can’t wait to see our Gossip Table cohort Marianne Garvey (on far right) premiere this Sunday on the new series City Girls Diaries. Billed as a “real-life Sex and the City,” this reality romp follows the lives of five dynamic women making it in NYC (hmmm, that sounds familiar!). A source tells the DivaGals exclusively that shooting the show “was a hoot filming with my best pal MarianneΓǪ We forgot the camera were following us and we are very worried!” Of course that source is none other than larger-than-life Gossip Table host Rob Shuter, so you know it’s going to be one wild ride! City Girl Diaries premieres Sunday, July 21 at 9 p.m. on Style Network.
PAINT. Many DivaGals are hyper-sensitive to chemicals and preservatives, that’s why we love Inglot Cosmetics new line of breathable nail polish. Inglot has released a new line of polish called O2M that it has labeled ΓÇ£breathable nail enamel.” It borrows a polymer used in some contact lenses that allows oxygen and moisture to penetrate to the nail. Healthy and chic? We dig that combo!
SMELL. Summer is here and if you are living on the east coast like us, you’re stuck in a heat wave. Just because your sweating doesn’t mean you have to stink! We are staying flower-petal fresh with Secret Mean Stinks Fearlessly Fresh Scent. The scent is light, perfect for these sticky summer days. And $1 from each purchase goes to help stop girl-on-girl bullying. Stay fresh and join the fight.
COVER. We know it’s hot, but you can still look haute. We are loving KAS New York‘s lux-loose embellished kaftans that do double duty as the perfect summer multi-use piece. Available at Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus.
GUESS WHO? Here’s the answer to our Guess Who question this week: This mega pop star still remembers her roots. Her fave restaurant in New York City is Puttanesca in HellΓÇÖs Kitchen. SheΓÇÖs there so much, she even takes meetings inside the neighborhoodΓÇÖs iconic Italian eatery.
It’s Alicia Keys!
