GAL APPROVED! Sip Ole’ Orleans Wines. Taste Ayo Foods. Celebrate Dreams Catering’s Philanthropy – Support These Black-Owned Businesses!By The DivaGals | March 12, 2021 | Gal Approved
SIP. Kim Lewis, a self-made, independent entrepreneur from New Orleans, has launched her very own wine company called Ole’ Orleans Wines. She now belongs to the 1 percent of Black women wine owners in the industry. As an avid traveler, Kim has tasted various local wines from the places she visited. It eventually gave her the idea of starting out her own wine company. She knew it would not be easy but she was confident that she could do it, especially with the experience she got from successfully running three healthcare businesses. “I’m not an expert. But, I know what I like and what good wine tastes like!” Definitely a woman we’d love to get to know!
TASTE. AYO Foods, a black-owned company specializing in West-African cuisine, is bringing its goodness to 50 Whole Foods locations. Founders Perteet and Fred Spencer have developed the brand from their family’s own recipes that have been shared across generations, which can now be found in the frozen food aisles.
CELEBRATE. Adrienne Fudge is CEO of 40 Dreams Catering, a company that delivers fresh, high-quality meals straight to the homes of senior citizens and disabled adults FOR FREE. Several insurance companies pay 40 Dreams Catering directly to provide the meals. Working directly with insurance companies, caretakers, and family members, the company ensures its clients are getting the right foods because access to healthy delicious meals is a human right, not a privilege.
