WATCH. The DivaGals attended the NY premiere of The Carrie Diaries at the New York TV Festival this week. (Check us out with series star Freema Agyeman!). Here are our thoughts! At first we were hesitant: Carrie Bradshaw as a teenager, really? Would it have the legs to stand on? It sure does! It’s 1984 and we get to see the Sex and the City sweetheart coming of age and beginning her love affair with NYC, along with the friends and influences that shaped the woman we know and love. The teenage Carrie is just as endearing and sensitive. A nostalgic romp through the eighties, its wild fashions and romanticized Big Apple, pre-Internet and cell phones, had us totally engaged. And we can certainly attest that our 16-year-old selves would have been enamored with Carrie’s teen love Sebastian, played by 21-year-old cutie (and Vanessa Hudgen’s BF!) Austin Butler. You can be sure The Carrie Diaries will be added to our weekly must watch list. Look for the show to premiere next January on The CW.
