What’s one of the best ways to celebrate Sunday morning in New York City? At the Red Rooster legendary Gospel Brunch in Harlem, New York!  The DivaGals scored a special invite to the weekly event hosted by Pluto TV to celebrate June’s Black Music Month. Pluto TV, the leading free streaming television service, amplifies and honors Black music with the return of its special pop-up category The Black Collective, featuring Xite Gospel, Vevo R&B and Vevo True School Hip Hop music channels.

Digging into a delicious brunch from the Marcus Samuelsson restaurant team, we then sat down for a rousing performance from Sing Harlem, a young people’s choir from Ms. Vi Higgenson‘s Mama Foundation (she is the creator of the Mama, I Want to Sing, the musical biography about her sister Doris Troy) and choir director Ahmaya Knoelle. The choir performed traditional gospel fare and a spiritual rendition of Prince‘s Purple Rain.

Next time you want to feel uplifted and well-fed, make a reservation at Red Rooster Harlem and tune in for Pluto TV’s The Black Collective. The Black Collective regularly features 24/7 channels, including Black Cinema, Black Classics, BET Her and more.
