SEE. You know the holiday season is here when Christmas movies start filling up the theaters. This season, it’s all about the new animated feature Arthur Christmas. This 3-D thrill ride demystifies how Santa delivers two billion toys in one night. Santa, a descendant of all the St. Nicks of eons past, counts on his son Steve, a military-inspired drill sergeant who has perfected the S-1 aircraft and trained millions of elves, to pull off the stealth operation to deliver toys across the globe, sight unseen. Then there is Santa’s sweet and clumsy son Arthur, who still hand writes letters back to the children who mail them to Santa. On this Christmas Eve, one child is missed ΓÇô Steve doesn’t seem to care, as it’s a negligible margin of error. Arthur can’t believe a child will be missed and sets out to deliver the gift himself. There’s lots of fun twists and turns in the story, which is smartly written ΓÇô even if it does seem to run just a teeny bit too long. The movie is in 3-D, which the kids will love, and the graphics are subtle enough for adults to adjust to relatively quickly. Special props for casting James McAvoy ΓÇô who TV DivaGal has crushed on since his work in Penelope ΓÇô as Arthur.
