Open seven days weekly in the Whale Building in Brooklyn’s industrial Sunset Park, this 70,000 square-foot warehouse facility offers ten next-generation synthetic grass 50’ x 80’ fields that can be combined for a bigger playing space. Socceroof also has locker and restrooms, a bar, café and a gorgeous outdoor deck with stunning views of Manhattan. At the official launch party, the DivaGals learned you can opt for single play or join a league (hello, eligible bachelors!). There are several activities and outlets for kids. Slip on your cleats and give soccer a try at Socceroof, located at 14b 53rd St, Brooklyn, N.Y.
WATCH. The new feel-good film Instant Family strives to show the diversity of the American family today. Pete and Ellie want a child, and through the foster care system become parents to three precocious children of Latino descent. Check out the fresh performances from newcomers Isabela Moner (Lizzy), Gustavo Quiroz (Juan) and Julianna Gamiz (Lita), Bravo to the Instant Family team for showcasing that all it takes to be a family is love. Now playing.
If you love the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, then Girl in the Spider’s Web is a must-see. This time Lisbeth Salander is played by Claire Foy (The Queen). She is splendid as the quirky, damaged computer hacker with quick self-defense skills, once again liberating abused women from predators and righting societal wrongs. We miss the chemistry of Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, but the action and intrigue kept us highly entertained.
Chris Pine takes on history’s Scottish king Robert the Bruce in Outlaw King (Netflix and limited theaters). There is a little bit of dramatic license that veers from the true story but it is still entertaining. This is the perfect date night film offering bloody war scenes (for the guys), damsels in distress and a sweet love story for the ladies.
