Gal Approved! Whip Your Body In Shape At Grit Bxng – Pitbull Loves It!

SWEAT! Ever been in that mood where you can’t decide if you want to run, hit the weights or box it out? Grit Bxng, a new gym in New York City, solves that dilemma. Offering a fitness workout hybrid of treadmill, weights and a very cool punching bag, this is one workout that will knock you into a more sculpted physique — fast!

A family business created by a sister who boxed in college and brother who ran bars and club venues overseas, Grit Bxng does have a bit of a nightclub vibe (and a fully stocked bar, but we’ll get to that!). But it all comes into play when once the workout starts.

Entering the space, Max Karp, our handsome instructor with abs of steel, explained that we’d start our work at one of Grit’s three stations and perform there for six minutes. I started with weights.
For the next several minutes I did a series of conditioning moves such as squats with overhead presses and bicycle curls with 30 seconds cardio pushes.

Next was the treadmill to jog, run and sprint. Don’t want to run? Grit is one of the few gyms that encourages fitness walking on the treadmill, offering incline changes instead of increasing our speed. And I still felt every minute.

My final stop was to the glorious water-filled aqua orbs hanging from the ceiling. Grit provides the gloves, I provided the heat to give those bags a one-two punch in various jab hooks cross and uppercut combos for the final several minutes. Or so I thought… The class wasn’t over! Max then announced we would hit each station for one last three-minute bout, complete with new moves to real get our hearts racing and muscles pumped!

It’s a pretty ingenious concept combining three hot workouts in a tightly knit 50-minute class. Kudos to the instructors who give cues to all three stations almost simultaneously (we hear they can make up to $1,000 an hour, wow!).

And then there’s that bar. Yes, Grit has a full-service bar where one can replenish with a mocktail or cocktail if you dare. And sometimes, I do!
